I like to think that there are different funerary rites for the different races.
Unicorns are entombed in sarcophagus or placed in urns, usually accompanied with what ever their life's work. Some unicorns try to ask their ancestors for wisdom. Earth ponies are given simple graves with plant seeds spread over their bodies so they might return to the natural world they treasured. Pegasi are placed on pyres, the winds carrying them away, and the belief that their ancestors' voices and spirits can be heard and felt on the wind. Especially gentle comforting breezes that lift one's wings. |

^ WHO TAKES PHOTOS IN A FUNERAL?
"Dad, can you stand next Twilight and mom's ashes? I need to take this one to remember" |

Psychopompf: Huh, I kinda had the same idea. I was picturing a post-battle scene with the very creepy image of dead pegasi, now negatively buoyant, slowly rising at various points in the foreground and background. |

I assume Sea Ponies wrap their bodies in kelp in a form of mummification and place them in giant clam coffins to be tossed into the gorge. |
