IMO swimsuits can look cute on ponies. As for why Ponies would want to wear them? Well, if we assume that they are considered "naked" when they're wet, then perhaps they'd wear a little something extra if they're going swimming. However, that's assuming they have any concept of nakedness at all-- the whole "wet mane" thing is kind of a creation of the fandom, and we don't really know if ponies are at all concerned about leaving anything to the imagination or not. If we were going by "anatomical accurateness," then technically the girls wouldn't be wearing bikini tops since on a real horse, the brests are quite a bit further south. However, there was that one shot in Swarm of the Century... The joke is that a group of Parasprits form a bikini on Rainbow Dash's body. It may not be "anatomically accurate," but that's where the show seems to indicate that their "breasts" are, so if someone wants to draw a bikini on a pony I'd say it's fair game (as long as they are not giving the ponies boobs, because that's where it stops being just a pony and a swimsuit and starts being anthro).

for me it looks sexy. its given the fact that most are so skimpy it draws more attention to what they supposedly hiding then normally would. they can be cute as well same as in the end there pointless but yeah more sexy as per personal opinion
