It's not ableist because the word ableist doesn't actually exist. Some PC Nazi just made it up because they wanted to make Derpy look bad. When [i]legitimate advocates for the legitimately disabled[i] don't even know the word, it may as well not be real.
And fuck 3D anything, especially games. I played the Virtual Boy. I don't need that kind of headache again. |

I just wish the current MLP:FIM would make up their mind on how they want to handle the Derpy issue. As a background joke pony, they haven't given her much story or any kind of standard write in. The in my mind canon says her eyes just derp when being silly, I wish they could devote a ep to explaining that, maybe even show her as a hard working mail pony but then derp when silly, and normal eyes afterwards ... but I'm just thinking too much... |

@OzarkBrony The word "ableist" always seems off to me because of how it is used. The suffix -ist is used to change the meaning of the original word to being "one who" is of the word. For example, a scientist is one who uses science to explain or to create.
However, we mostly think about the words racist when it comes to ableist. The too certainly share the same origin. Racist comes from racism which carries the suffix -ism which makes words into a doctrine or belief. With racism, it is talking about a social attitude of a nation or people who carry the belief that they are the superior people. Basically, racism is an outdated thought that had been around sense early man started building civilizations. It is how wars between nations began and became the justification for doing evil onto his fellow man. It was because of this standard idea that had justified the slave trades of that time. But as time went on, man had reached an revelation. Racism is stupid. So began the Civil War and generations of Americans trapped within a new racist idealism. Racism still exist today through not only American culture but all around the world. For this, racism is the supreme example of ignorance in a modern society. Which brings us to ableism. With the words ableist or ableism, you are cementing the idea that people that are "able" are superior to those who do not fit into the perspective of a perfectly normal human being. When accusing someone of ableism, you are saying that person sees themselves as somebody who is superior to somebody that is disabled in anyway. Whether it be physically, mentally, or psychologically. In truth, yes, there are people like this. I know for a fact that there are people like this. It is as hateful and ignorant as racism in it's purest form. So much like racism, ableism is being used to promote hate without knowing the meaning of it. Ignorance by definition. Which is why I question those who throw these words the most. It really feels like they are calling ableist because it sounds like racist and racism is bad... |
