I hate all horror movies

If I want to get freaked the fuck out, I'll read a fluffy abuse story involving foals

The classics are always the best. No nostalgiafaggotry here, Hollywood is just utter bullshit nowadays. They've run out of creativity, so they're recycling shit.

...Michael Bay is doing a TMNT movie. It's just NT. And it's aliens.

There is no sacred land that Hollywood will not desecrate. So... Yeah. I prefer the originals, because Hollywood has a habit of utterly skullfucking the good out of anything.

What sick bastard would do a total recall without ahnuld? I mean seriously, they could have god himself in the roll and people would still be saying "Yeah, but he's not arnold."

Haven't watched any of these movies.
However, if you asked me about the Halloween, Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street franchises, I would pick the originals.

I kind of like musicals
I used to have this tradition where my best friend and I would watch Sweeney Todd and sing along every Halloween.

It used to be, movies were entertainment. Then with New Hollywood, movies were art. Then movies were entertainment again.

Some time in the last decade, movies became a way to take money from stupid people. And nothing more.

I miss old Ahnuld. It broke my heart when I heard that he was cheating on his wife right under her nose with the housemaid for a whole decade. Just... That guy was a childhood hero. And now he's just a flabby douchebag.

Well, I think that Hollywood isn't trying anymore because people are stupid and very easily entertained. Directors like Michael Bay are still in business because people are stupid enough to pay for, watch and enjoy their movies. No standards.

Of course with Arnold's recent divorce due to his affairs, the line becomes a bit harsher in hindsight.

Not all remakes suck. The new True Grit was better than the original imo.

Well, the new Total Recall isn't out yet, so I won't judge it on whether it's good or bad as a film in general. But then again, it lacks Michael Ironside and (seemingly) a three-boobed alien chick. So yeah, that's a bad sign. I'm just not all that excited for the remake.
As for the other films, I like the old ones better because, well, they are better movies in general. The new ones are either boring, stupid or downright silly in their attempts at being scary or interesting.

Hollywood in general needs a swift buck to the family jewels. The MPAA isn't as bad as the RIAA yet, but they're heading there. Star Wars itself wasn't bad, but its eventual effect on cinema may have been a death blow. Once it became clear that movies could mean genuinely big money even by Wall St. standards, that's all that has mattered. With a remake, you have guaranteed name recognition and at least a break-even audience.

AppleDash is right, not all remakes suck. The fourth version of My Little Pony, one pretty much has to admit, has been at least 20% cooler than any other version including the original. And the recent Chipmunks movies have turned out to be a lot of fun. It's a pity the first one had such a stupid ad campaign, I wish I'd seen it in theaters.

But those are the exceptions to the rule. Most remakes are crap.
