And it's comments like that that prove this fic isn't remotely overrated. Well, okay. There are some people who compare it to Lord of the Rings, which is a little too far, but I'll be damned if it isn't a fanfuckingtastic story. People just clench their assholes in terror when they see the word count of the first chapter and realize there are 45 chapters. |

saying it's overrated doesn't mean it isn't good I read all of it, it was okay but I don't see the big deal with it it had it's ups and downs but most fans get upset when people speak ill of it even if it's justified (like some other fic which we will not speak of) So yes I believe it is overrated but you are free to think otherwise |

I think it is well deserving of it's hype. It has effectively spawned its own fandom within the pony fandom. FO:E has numerous side-stories written by fans, fan music, fan art, and even fan-made game mods. Anything that achieves that sort of cult following is deserving of it's hype in my opinion.
And yes, that does include the infamous "Cupcakes" gorefic. I may call it a lot of things, by I will never call it overrated. |

Well, Cupcakes IS overrated, but I won't deny it its legacy. As shitty as most of its spinoffs are; At least FO:E sidestories are generally known for quality. Cupcakes knockoffs are all the fucking same. |

The fact of the matter is that the words "overrated" and "overhyped" is simply a bit of fluff. It is nothing more than a word designed and utilised by people who want to complain about something. Not only, but those words have been thrown around so carelessly that they've completely lost the impact they once had.
Nowadays, it is better to just accept that some things will get a cult following, even if one may not really understand why, or see a reason that they deem to be reasonable. Hell, there's not really a rational reason for why the pony fanbase exists. Everyone has their own explanations, but none are absolutely true to everyone else. And - good gracious - there are people not in the fanbase who think this massive cult following is obsessing over something "overhyped". Basically, I hate those words, because they have no value in this world, yet some people believe they do, and even go so far as to believe they measure something's overall quality as poor. |
