The Jews. |
| Yorec #1257650 3 months ago |
Why must you bring real world problems into the pony fandom? |
| PhilSrobeighn #1257653 3 months ago |
1: Diamonds are far more rare here
2: We do not have magic to locate diamonds 3: Don't accuse us of poor treatment of workers the compare Rarity using Spike like that |
| Anonymous #1257658 3 months ago |
I was watching Gold Rush in the Discovery Channel. Damn those miners are really messing up Alaska really well, I'm surprised nobody says anything about it. |
| Chelis #1257661 3 months ago |
isnt it both the same thing... but in a smaller scale? |
| Jackarunda #1257671 3 months ago |
Because in the real world precious gems are not found in such abundance so close to the surface. Duh. |
| DaisyHead #1257672 3 months ago |
rarity is more efficient finding them though. |
| PonyFlea #1257688 3 months ago |
Because Fuck Earth that's why... |
| Kanrabat #1257692 3 months ago |
Here: Jeweles and diamonds are rare as fuck and in extremely high demands. So any means is good to obtain them.
FIM world: Not only jewels and diamonds are common as gravel, they are already sculpted to perfection when found. They are no more in demands than apples. They are worth a price, but not enough to go to extreme measures to obtain them. |
| AppleDash #1257701 3 months ago |
Because we suck at finding them |
| CottonTales #1257706 3 months ago |
because we aren't magic jewel seeking ponies and a dragon seriously Twilight
because economics, jewels are valuable for stupid reasons because there are those who don't care about certain individuals misfortunes because saving the environment is not at the top of most people's list of concerns and who are you to talk miss the 'natural' environment is under the control of my kind because economics just because |
| Impious #1257709 3 months ago |
Because the human race is too dumb to live and will probably be extinct by 2200. Might be a few mountain inbreds here and there, but humanity will fall. We cannot sustain ourselves for much longer, eventually food and fuel and room will run out, and nature will cull the species back to manageable numbers. Which would be less than a tenth of our current population. |
| MrWrann #1257711 3 months ago |
Diamonds are actually rather common. |
| CallMeAl #1257715 3 months ago |
'Cuz our stuff is rare and hard to reach? |
| packer_dash_52 #1257728 3 months ago |
because life is shit |
| phallen1 #1257733 3 months ago |
Because the moneyed elite have sold the world on the myth that gemstones pulled from the earth have emotional value, and that gems of better quality formed in a lab for relatively cheap do not. |
| Anonymous #1257735 3 months ago |
I will never buy a diamond for anyone for exactly this reason. |
| AppleDash #1257742 3 months ago |
@Impious
I dunno, with fusion technology right around the corner and solar energy coming down in price I don't think there will be any sort of energy crisis. Population growth, even in developing countries, is slowing down, so there's that. I think if we can last 50 years without nuking ourselves we will be fine. |
| Impious #1257748 3 months ago |
We'll still run out of room and food, though. Fuel, maybe not, but we can't sustain this kind of population growth for much longer. It really is unnatural how large our numbers are, and it's going to bite us in the ass. |
| Jackarunda #1257755 3 months ago |
i think impious is right; i think population is going to be an issue
unless we take the mass effect route, develop FTL travel and terraform other planets |
| Saint_Braeburn #1257762 3 months ago |
@Jester
We need to make our golden Kipas.
Also Twilight why don't you ask the diamond dogs this question. |
| CottonTales #1257791 3 months ago |
@Impious
Nature will cull the weak it always does don't see why humanity would be any different There are so many ways nature can do it though it will be interesting to see how it occurs I'm guessing worldwide food shortages followed by rationing wars when we get desperate |
| JasonTheHuman #1257837 3 months ago |
In Equestria, diamonds are an important food source for dragons, but they're easy to obtain.
On Earth, they are a pretty fashion accessory, and we send people into dangerous mines to look for them. |
| Saint_Braeburn #1257840 3 months ago |
@Cotton
I'm saying Pandemic |
| Anonymous #1257858 3 months ago |
Yes, 'cause its a great idea to ask why the real world doesn't play by the same rules as the one with magic. |
| Anonymous #1257912 3 months ago |
We enslave Africans, you enslave Spike. Whatever works. |
| Anonymous #1258112 3 months ago |
Because humans are horrible people and ponies don't see a need for constant endless torture. |
| Nightweaver20xx #1258409 3 months ago |
Because I don't live in a magical land where my shit magically disappears once I shit it and I can find pre-cut, pre-polished gemstones 6 inches under the ground with my magic horn. |
| ProfessorOfHoers #1258787 3 months ago |
Simple; greed. |
| Mike-RaWare #1259804 3 months ago |
The technology to create diamonds from graphite is not ready to create high quality gems on a large scale. |
