I find it to be a mixture of sad and funny just how emotionally worked up fans of this show can get...
First they dramatically defend what ever non-canonical material they love, Then they attack what ever non-canonical elements they like, but contradicts some one elses thing, like say two conflicting ships that involve a similar character, or they get bent out of shape over the show changing something, like Derpy's design, or create a situation involving Cherrilee and Big Mac. If the shows producer gave into every little whim of the fandom, it would turn into a stra... it just wouldn't qualify as a children's show anymore, it would probably be something similar to a fetishy lesbian hentai. I'm sorry, I'm a fan of this show like any other. And I actually like the morals they try to teach, especially in the first season. And I would like to believe there is still something special in the Brony movement, like love and friendship and tolerance and stuff. But watching people on this site abd others, I'm starting to believe its all mostly sexually repressed boys crying over what they don't get. (actually it all mostly seems to be filth spilling over from 4chan) tl:dr sorry guys I just had to let some steam out and rant for a little bit. |

Well that's what happens when you combine a lot of people with differing opinions and get them to talk about said opinions. Then again there's also the fact that a lot of people don't know the difference between arguing and debate. So that makes people cry foul a lot as well. |

I'll never understand trolls. They are so thick that even when people ignore and insult them they think they're being rewarded.

I don't think you rightfully blame all things on bronies. Being passionate about ships and fanfic fanon is something I see the younger female fans do a whole lot more. The teen male fans supply the pervertedness, that is true, but they are also some of the most productive fanwork makers. The furry crowds, who very few people call bronies, supply the majority of the pornographic art. Shame about the 4chan trolls, @moot was a moron for making an unneeded /mlp/ board. What I'm saying is, things got big enough that everyone gets associated with a lot of people he'd rather ignore. But I think it's false thinking to imagine an "us and them" mentality. There is no bronies who do all the bad things and good fans who do the good things, it's all intermixed. |

Derpy issue got blown up due a number of things. Not just because fans didn't get what they wanted. More or less I'd say it got blown up because it turned into a political ethics issue. |

BattleGT, you're exactly right. The whole Derpy thing was more about political correctness and how it can be used for censorship. That a cartoon horse got modified was only a surface issue. |
