I'd rather have mid sized stories that are moderately easy to download and read while only requiring three tabs open at once to get the whole story. Not too short. Not too long. Just right.
Also, as a mecha fan, I take offense to Mazinger Z being included in a group of city destroying monsters. Even if its pilot is a heartless murderer who kills the girl his brother loves in every adaptation and takes every opportunity to cause collateral damage, Ryoma Nagare's Black Getter is a far more mercilessly destructive force. It doesn't just kill innocent people held hostage, its pilot revels in the act of doing so. Now you know. AND KNOWING IS HALF THE BATTLE! |

@0109 Hey, if you're referring to Shiro's girlfriend, Koji HAD to kill her... she was an android AI for a freakin' huge murderbot! Usually, Koji is just a good-intentioned meddler with only a limited idea of how his huge robot works (I consider mega-badass Koji from Shin Mazinger to be non-canon) - and, you know, "Kill-crazy" Ryoma is only from Getter Robo Armageddon. Usually his normal incarnations are heroic sociopaths... the one who is shown as a deranged killer is his teammate Hayato Jin, and usually only at the beginning (the less said about poor Musashi "always dies" Tomoe, the better)
Personally, though, I ignore stuff like the "follow-up spin-offs", having grown with the original Anime. To me, Koji is a good kid with a heroic streak a mile wide (just ask Grendizer's Duke Fleed), and Ryoma Nagare is a soccer player who ended up in the wrong place at the right time, "murderball" Go Nagai notwithstanding. (Why "murderball"? Because every manga he works on ends up so full with sex and corpses that it looks like a gorefic. Honestly, the guy is a genius, but has a rotten core...) Why, I even prefer blue-green "monster in exile" Devilman from the Anime to the brown "possessing entity" from the OAV and the Manga. So sue me... |
