I guess I have a higher opinion of Flim and Flam because I am taking Economics. When you have a better understanding of how that sort of thing works, it just makes the Apple family look like ignorant morons in the context of business. |

Actually during the beginning of the competition they were producing cider at a rate of 6 to 1 for the brothers. Assuming that they were able to sell all of that cider then they would have been better off, even without counting the lowered costs of operations from not having to produce it. |

And Flim & Flam were much worse then Gilda and Trixie. Gilda worst crime was stealing an apple and being a minor jerk, Trixie just humilated people who tried to put her show down, that and boasting(which I hardley consider evil, otherwise rainbow dash is satan). Flim & Flam worst crime was TRYING TO KICK THE APPLE FAMILY OUT OF THEIR HOME! AFTER TRYING TO RIP THEM OFF ON TOP OF THAT! |

well they Apples did accept the challenge knowing full well the consequences, and if the apples had any business sense then they would have known that they WEREN'T getting ripped off, and they would have simply adjusted the deal. |

In the end both The Flim Flam brothers and the Apple Family are at fault. The Apple Family could have asked for a better deal ,but the Flim Flam brothers could have offered a fairer and less insulting deal in the first place. |

Yeah, the diamond dogs too.
And it wasn't so much the Apples accepted the challenge than Granny Smith went all "Honor Before Reason" and dragged the rest of the family into participating. And that only happened because Applebloom was gloating. If Granny and Applebloom had kept quite and let Big Mac and AJ do the talking, then the whole second half of the episode could have been avoided. |

It was a fair deal! There was clear and present demand for the apple cider so we will assume that they could sell as much as they could produce. The Flim Flam Brothers could make cider 600% faster and at half of the labour cost. So lets look at the results. Assuming the Apples sold 100$ worth of cider to start of with lets multiply that by 6. we now have 600$, and 25% of that is 150$. The Apples are immediately better off. They can also use the labour previously used to make cider for other purposes, in order to create even more money than before. Case and point is that the Apples are terrible business ponies, which is why they are always on the verge of bankruptcy. |

Can we all agree that Trixie, Gilda, and the Flim Flam Brothers are not evil per say, but their actions and personalities put them on the opposing side of the main characters and were destined to fail and be humiliated?
And the Diamond Dogs are trying to run a slave ring in the caves somewhere near Ponyville? |

Well that makes them seem less villainous, and I wouldn't say the apple family were stuiped, just caught up in the heat of the argument, and a 25% 75% deal seems really bad if you don't think about anything else. |

That all works on the assumption that there was enough demand to make those sales. We saw at best 100 ponies unserviced and when you factor in that Ponyville's population was never given; we'll never know for sure if it was a fair deal or not. |

Given that cider is seasonal we can generally assume that ponies would try to stock up on it, and businesses could buy it as well. Also there is Pinkie Pie. The repair cost's however are not held by the Apple family, the cut the revenue 25/75 not the profits. |
