The Atom bombs were justified. The Japanese government tried to kill there own emperor for trying to surrender. An Invasion of Japan would have been a bloodbath.

And the USSR's casualties were primarily there own fault, for wasting time fighting a pointless war with Finland, purging some of there greatest military officers for trivial reasons , and killing Soviet soldiers who surrendered to the enemy.

Stop being an imbecile and believing old war books. Today historians are increasing more and more URSS participation in the battle. When the Day D happened, Days A, B and C had already guaranted victory. Check Battle of Stallingrad and Moscow for info.

The USSR only played a massive role in the European theater. They played little, if any role in the African and Pacific theater.

I'm not saying that USSR didn't play an important role in the war. It did and it should be remembered for it, but boiling down WW2 to "My nation won and you guys did nothing" is stupid, regardless of which nation your talking about.

And as I noted earlier, a lot of the USSR's loses could have been avoided if the Soviet government had not issued Order No. 270, purged most of there experienced military officers during the Red Terror, and wasted valuable time fighting the Winter War with Finland, that they could have spent preparing for the inevitable future war with Germany.

From what i have read, withought the russian action, D Day would have not been possible because NAzi germany would have had the resources to repel it, but withought american intervention it would hcve tured into a far longwer war.

Yes it would have. The Bombs killed 1 million Japanese. An invasion of Japan would have killed around 1.5 Million Americans and somewhere between 5 to 10 Million Japanese. It would have also completely destroyed the island of Kyushu and much of eastern Honshu. And for the record no one had any idea that radiation would do that to people.

Besides the Japanese army and government had long since declared a state of total war. Just look at The Raping of Nanjing or the Bataan Massacre.
