*sigh...
ok... ill field that question... basically, for most people, it starts with playing the games, and you have a fuck load of fun, right? The game has more than enjoyable, amazing music, even had a very high level of atmosphere in the 3rd game. The thing with the games is that it has sooo much story potential (im talking about the early games here). It has a hedgehog of unbeatable speed, an evil scientist that is making a giant robot army, mystic gems filled with ultimate power, a red echidna who guards these gems even though he does not quite understand what they are, or whose side he is on. The whole thing so so much potential, so many areas to expand on. The comics by archie started to expand on these, and so did the show based on the comic. Hell, if you're that curious, read a bit on this article from a sonic wiki. It sucks you in with these amazing games from the early days that many people are still having fun with today. Then its a swift kick to the balls after that. What made it bad though, was that sonic WAS a franchise made for the purpose of making money. So what did they do? They made him 'way past cool'. Smart marketing choice, however it wasn't long till SEGA started to deteriorate, and then the really really retarded shit started to happen... and what is left is... well.. you know all about chris chan im sure... |

Doesn't help that pretty much all of the games after the Dreamcast ones are buggy, almost-unplayable piles of steaming horse apples. |

the sonic thing.. is... you really have to tiptoe around it... worst thing is, even if the games were still shit, all that awesome wonder and mystery of the world could STILL be expanded upon by members of the fandom (like we have here), if they wern't so pants-on-head stupid... but... oh well one fandom had to be at the bottom and it might as well have been sonic |
