Hey, I've got a question for ya. Any specific way you make a tail like that? I'm customing mcdonalds toys, so I'm sculpting my own.

Also, how do you plan on doing the Cutie Mark?

I have flexible frisket film (artmask hobby) and I'll be tracing a vector of her cutie mark with an x-acto knife. I haven't the steady hand to draw two tiny lightning bolts.

As far as the tail, each visible blade of hair is attached to a central one, they're kinda mooshed on after I shape them.

If you meant the texture of the tail, I take multiple colors of clay and roll them into a snake, fold the snake in half, and roll again. Eventually there's a visible grain to the clay that kinda looks like hair.

I'll check out the frisket film, whatever that is. Yeah, the one I'm drawing is really complicated, it would be impossible to paint. Also, thanks for the tips on shaping the tail.

One more thing, this probably doesn't apply to you, but you might know anyway. The mc donalds toys are plastic, so once I dry my sculpted tail, how would I go about attaching it?

Is there a hole where the original tail was on the Mc'D toy? Best bet would be to design your tail to fit in that hole, and attach it with the tiniest dab of superglue when everything's dry. Waterbased clays shrink though, and can be delicate. Get a pack of Sculpey Premo if you can, it bakes up like plastic in your home oven. That's all I use.

Oh yeah and rather than buy some of this stupid expensive frisket film, you could cut the design into masking or scotch tape. It's not ideal as paint can seep under but it's better than nothing.
