Really people, this was a Megasweet lineart, she let's people color it for her, sometimes several people, there are dozens of different colored pics each for any one piece of hers she didn't color herself. And on that note, let it be known that whenever Megasweet colors her stuff, she makes Twilight Caucasian (or Asian but rather light). |

Light-skinned Twilight could be either white or Asian. Both it's really left up to interpretation, and that's probably why she is more popularly depicted with light skin than anything else. Coloring a picture of Twilight with lighter skin is not racism, and if you think it is maybe you are just hypersensitive.
And for the record, the original image was drawn by Megasweet (just the line art, not the coloring), and when Megasweet colors his own drawings he's never made Twilight black. Does that make Megasweet a racist, or does that mean that the person who keeps coloring his drawings is artificially trying to inject them with diversity? The fact that people get so butthurt over non-black colorings of Megasweet's drawings tells me it's the latter. Whoever colored the picture in the first place was already ignoring the original artist's intention for the picture, so they have no right to complain when someone else goes and alters the picture again to suit their own preferences. The colorer changed Twilight to be black, and then someone else changed her again to be asian/white. Neither party involved is the original artist, so both are just making alterations to their own preferences. |

For my own opinion, stated several times on these threads before, please refer to bboifatz's post and Jack-o-Lantern's posted pic above me (aside from the epic thread-winning segue into Niggertron at the end). I'm White. I live in a majority White town in a majority White state. I imagine the humanizations of all the characters (except Zecora) as White. This is not a crime, and it does not make me a racist or a bigot, nor does my dislike & critiquing of Black!Twilight on artistic grounds (colour-clash). I also happen to be a Southerner, so comparing me to a Klansman is pretty much the most offensive thing OP can possibly do. |

411, actually, Niggertron has a pretty valid point. People color as black, but she really isn't "drawn" black, she always has distinctly European features. Twilight has absolutely no characteristics of people of African descent, her voice actress is white, and people seem to make her dark-skinned in humanisations just to be contrary. |

With megasweet the issue is moot because it starts out as lineart without defined race in the first place. If the original race of an image were being changed, I would agree with OP, but that's not the case here.
And for the record, there's nothing racist about personally imagining humanizations of ponies as white. Simply personally imagining them as white isn't what's happening though. People aren't just saying "not how I imagined her, but nice/bad art", they apparently find it so upsetting to see nonwhite humanizations that they systematically go into the comments sections to say so, sometimes going as far as to try to prove why the white versions are "correct". What really get's me is the argument that having one of them as nonwhites is "forced diversity" as if it's completely obvious that white would be their default race and that nobody just happens to prefer that depiction for one reason or another. |

Just as many people bash white human Twilight as black human Twilight, with reasons just as ungrounded, and if they feel they're losing ground they play the racist card, like this post here, which is even more ridiculous than simply saying you don't think a specific race is plausible for a character. |

If someone drew a drawing of Twilight as black and then someone changed it to make her white, I can understand why it would make people upset. As has been mentioned though, this was a colorization of one of Megasweet's lineart drawings by a third party, and Megasweet does not draw Twilight as black, so I don't get why anyone would get offended when they see other people coloring in his drawings in a way that closer to Megasweet's preferences.
If you're going to indict someone for coloring one of Megasweet's drawings in a way contrary to Ashesg, then you'll have to indict Megasweet himself. The outrage over non-black versions of Megasweet's drawings stinks badly of a double-standard, as if Ashesg is the only one who has any right to decide what color Twilight's skin should be in a drawing that he didn't even make. |

I have never seen white Twilight bashed. Or white humanizations of any pony bashed. But the moment we have a black Twilight (or even just dark than white skin), we get a shitstorm over how that is "incorrect" and some BS about physical features. It's like we suddenly forget that TWILIGHT IS A PURPLE FUCKING PONY. Plus, I'm pretty sure there is alot of animation where black characters have their "physical features" subdued (just as we have some where they are exaggerated.)
I don't get why Black Twilight exists, but I have no problems with her. |
