I don't understand why anyone acts so surprised when they see a non-black Twilight, because frankly black Twilight is pretty niche. All of Megasweet's official colorings of Humanized Twilight are light-skinned (either Asian or White-- some artists leave it open to interpretation), and whenever there have been both black and asian/white versions of a drawing, the non-black one always gets a lot more fav's.
Whether or not it's politically correct is another matter entirely, however I think it's safe to say that Black humanized Twilight remains an "alternative" to the more common light-skinned depictions of her, rather than the other way around-- I'm pretty sure that Asian depictions of her are a lot more popular, although those often get lumped in with "white" drawings of her since in art white and asian can sometimes be difficult to distinguish without resorting to stereotypes. |
