Canadians, put your milk bags down for a minute and Support Bill C-279; because if one group is not protected no one's protection is guaranteed.
That's what freedom is all aboot. |

ok, now, I see you with your politics there, and although I agree with what she is saying and that rainbowdash kinda does allow this to be here and you arn't actually breaking any rules...
do you really want to bring this into ponies and ponibooru? |

@PowerToole Under Harper, there is NO FREEDOM |

@MaroonBunyip
Yes, actually. I firmly believe in equality and in Rainbow Dash. @The_Baron Zinnia Jones is a very interesting character. He's very eloquent and made the first analysis of Miracles by the Insane Clown Posse that was not just mockery.
Said video, like everything academic, confused and enraged the ICP. I've been following him since then. This kid is just fascinating. |

I see the loose correlation between pony by the person having a shirt of Dash in the same way an image of Gaben is pony-related.
But something strikes me the wrong way about pushing a non-pony topic on Ponibooru. Fast track to a flamewar that isn't necessary, in my opinion. I may give it a listen at some point, as I'm all for equality. So your ends have been met. However, the means may make a "battle" won a drawback for the entire war. Given the outcry against Yamino (dare I bring her name up again,) I can't believe that this is the best way to introduce topics of inequality in (guessing before I see the video) a group of people who most bronies cannot easily relate to on the whole and a group many bronies may not see as having much of a problem/self-inflicted problem. You can wear your audience out by being too "advocatey" about an issue. For example, religion isn't necessarily hated by all nonreligious people, but you can certainly wear out a person who isn't of a faith if you come to the wrong arena and present a case for it. The same can go for anything that proposes a new and life-changing perspective. Ponies may not be the best place for that. Having said all of that, good luck. If certain users catch wind of this, then I can't say I think it will go as calmly as Maroon and I have taken it. |

C'mon, not all pegasisters are that ugly, most of them yeah, but not all. |

Having watched the video (only 2 minutes,) the guy is very articulate. I think he relies on emotional appeals too much, but that's a personal preference in how I respond and begin to gloss over an argument.
Also, within the argument, he compares some hypothetical scenarios that won't be prevented by legislation. I can tell you that ethnic and racial minorities in the US and other countries have legal protection against discrimination, and they still get discriminated against. The traditional gender of "woman" gets a ton of discrimination, and a lot of that discrimination is internalized by women. Law does not fix everything, even when you can take it to trial. However, the call to action is simple enough. "Gender" would be something very simple to throw in without changing the language of the statutes he presents, and an argument saying that "sex" and "gender" is the same thing would be easy enough to get through in Canada, because I've seen legislation pass in the States that uses "gender" and "sex." Then again, I thin Canada takes some pride in not being the States. Also, parting shot: PowerToole@1230877 said: Actually, according to the statute presented by Zinnia, a lot of groups' protections are guaranteed. It has already been written in. Legislators would actually have to make a decided change in legislation to remove those protections, and change is a harder action to take in practicality, all things equal, than not taking action at all. Furthermore, the movement for less traditional gender identities is new and decidedly different from civil rights movements for other groups of people. The claim has already been made by charismatic speakers, religious leaders, respected people from academia, and powerful people in society and in government for women, racial and ethnic minorities, and people of different sexual orientations more recently. To work to change an established law in those cases would require much more effort to overcome court cases that serve as precedents as to why equal rights should exist for these groups. I agree with your end goal, but just not with that statement. Any argument for a desired goal is not a good argument in my opinion. Know what I mean? But criticism aside, the call to action is certainly warranted. I do not mean to belittle the actual point of his video. Also, forgive me if I'm using the wrong pronoun. My experience with transgender people is limited. |

Wearing a pony t shirt just to link your political shit on this site? Burn it with fire. Regardless if I agree/disagree with them, do you want to see massive spams of political garbage and youtube "stars" advertising their videos? I sure as hell don't. |

There's already way too much 'slap a pony on it and bring it here' going on. Civil topics/comments or not, these things should probably be gif derailed on principal.
Let's please try to keep the Poni in our booru, people. For the sake of our future. For the sake of our childrens' future. A world without Ponibooru isn't a world worth living in. Paid for by the council of Poni Ponying Poni for Ponies. PONY! |
