I prefer to think of sitting on someone's head more as an act of affection than derision

but then again
I'm weird

So, um, I haven't played Mass Effect 3, or any of them for that matter, but was the ending(s) really that bad?

Like, is there a movie ending you could compare it to?

@Shaky Anything by Gainax I guess, except the overall Mass Effect story wasn't very Gainax, I guess that's what pisses people off.

basically bioware promised not to make the ending a basic A B or C choice, but they did.

The A B and C choices are all identical to each other

the ending in general had many plot holes (D'ohohoh) in it.

The ending did not give any closure at all to the other characters in the game and you really don't know what happened to them.

So yeah, it was kinda bad

oh and none of the choices you made from previous games made no real difference in the ending

Some minor spoilers!
When that kid appeared in the prologue I already started to hate him. Every time he was mentioned or appeared again, my hate doubled. On his last appearance my hate increased tenfold.
And yeah, the endings suck hard. I was really disappointed.

Anyhow, Bioware had just announced a new free dlc that would create a more complete ending.

However they also said that it doesn't change the ending, but they appreciate their fan's input.

That kinda came off as somewhat callous, as if hinting that the developers were mad over the fans' hostile reaction to the original ending and having to placate their fans because of it.

And it is a complete genre change, more or less with a new "antagonist" shoved in the last five minutes of gameplan.

Lyra does not deserve to be associated with them.

Could somebody just go ahead a spoil it for me? I know the gist of Mass Effect, but I really can't be bothered playing them.

@756:

Well, the mind-screwy indoctrination interpretation actually does sound like the kind of plot twist they'd do. The problem is 1) they never give any indication that's actually what happened, and 2) it still reduces you to a flat ABC ending whose scope is so sweeping it invalidates all your decision-making over the whole trilogy and then ends before anything can be expanded upon.

If the DLC gives some kind of epilogue to the survivors and confirms the indoctrination theory, it could actually work.
