Actually, he was already treated pretty badly by the other reindeer because of his blue nose. After eating the hito hito no mi, it became worse and ran him out of the herd. |

Where Fluttershy tried curing Philomena with good intentions; Chopper did that same for his first friend/mentor/father-figure, only to hasten his death. That's where he learned that illness cannot be cured with just good intentions but only when one is properly trained...

@430 half of the crew's backstories are really "manly tear shedding" top three (to me) are Nami, Robin, and Chopper, with Brook being a close fourth (being stuck on a ship surrounded by the dead bodies of your crew and friends for 50 years, doubt anyone would be sane after that). |

Saddest backstory ranking for me:
1 - Robin 2 - Chopper 3 - Nami 4 - Brook 5 - Frankie 6 - Sanji 7 - Luffy 8 - Zoro 9 - Usopp Anything that had a backstory where the character is robbed of everything to have a normal childhood is pretty damn tragic. |
