^In Dune, Gom Jabbar is a test given to certain people
they put their hand in a box this box (using SCIENCE) inflicts greater and greater pain, until it feels like all the skin on their forearm is burning away if the person removes their arm, they are instantly killed, and they know this so it's a test of whether they can overcome their natural instinct to avoid pain, rationality over instinct... then they will be considered 'human' by the Bene Geneserrit (the ones giving the test). |
