Spike is actually probably just a little older than the CMC. Twilight hatched him when she was very young, and the Mane 6 are all young adults. |

Since Twilight hatched Spike before she started magic training, which includes magic kindergarten, I honestly can't see him as being more then 6 years younger then the mane 6, which puts him somewhere around 15, and I can't see the CMC as being more then like 8. |

@Nightjack I was speaking entirely of the idea that the CMC is closer is age to Spike then the mane 6. I would say that the age difference is roughly the same, probably a little larger between Spike and the CMC. Of course I'm a sparity fan so I'm a smidge more biased then most. |

@candrew: I like sparity too but I think Spike is closer to the CMC's age then the mane 6, to me it seems Rarity is about 24-26, and from your thinking of Spike being 15 that makes it 9-11 years apart then what would be about 7 years to Sweetie. |

^ All I'm saying is there is nothing wrong with thinking Spike and the CMC are closer in age then he is to the mane 6, and like I said, I think that if Spike doesn't get with Rarity then one of the CMC makes sense to me. |

@Nightjack I don't think Rarity is that old, I think she's the same age as Twilight, and the other mane 6 with the exception of Fluttershy who is the oldest by a year. I base this on the fact they all look about the same in flashback and Applejack got her cutie mark when she was younger then her sister. Since we have almost zero information to go on though it's all pretty much up in the air. |

Well, if Twilight hatched him at around the CMC age or younger, and Twilight is a young adult, in her twenties at least, then yeah Spike'd be a few years older than the CMC at least, but...
I like the overestimate the CMC's age, just based on their deadpan attitudes that I usually see on 10-12 year olds and their desperation for Cutie Marks. My estimate is 11 for the girls and 13 for Spike. Still an iffy age difference (I prefer my toy ships to be no more than a school grade apart), but once they're around high-school age it could definitely take off. |

Also we don't know how long after Spike was hatched that the CMC where born, for all we know it was 4 years, so it's all up to the each person what age they all are, once again my ponit is there is nothing wrong with thinking Spike is closer to the CMC's age, not everyone sees then at the same age. |

@candrew: I took it to mean smaller, and she said she was one of the last in her class to get a cutie mark, meaning she had to be about Blooms are or mayby a little older as most of Cheerilee's class at what seems to be the age most get a cutie mark. |

@Nightjack At the same time Rainbow Dash got her cutie mark and she was the first. And if anything she's slightly younger then the others based on her size. Maybe Applejack's class was full of earlier bloomers but Rarity should have technically been in her class as Ponyville has the one school and she got her cutie mark at the same time. Continuity was not their strong point is season one. |

Didn't Lauren Faust once say that the Mane 6's ages were anywhere between 12-20? Granted, those are horse years, but still!
And say whatever you want to say about how long ago Spike was hatched, but take a few things into consideration. 1. He's still referred to as a BABY dragon. 2. He's naive about a LOT of things that a teenager would NOT be naive about. And we've SEEN what actual teenage dragons look like. |
