It's a survival mechanism, I think. If attacked by a predator, the crab rips off a claw as a distraction/give the predator an easier meal than the crab itself while it escapes. Maybe the camera triggered an instinct, who knows. |

These 3D print things seem really fragile. There needs to be someone who makes a mold from one of these and casts it in resin or neoprene or something. You can actually paint the inside of the mold and the color will fuse to the casting material (at least some kinds). |

Mine had one broken leg and the tail. Krazy glued them both back on. Only a minor seam is visible on the leg, otherwise it turned out great. |
