@picard An alternate reality game (ARG) is a game that tries very hard to not appear to be a game. Most start with curious fake websites, which the player investigates to get closer to solving the mystery or whatnot presented, all with the conceit that what they're reading about is really happening. Some expand to other media sources to strengthen the illusion, such as calling a player's cellphone when they get far enough into it.
Not to be confused with virtual reality game, which is a completely different thing. Often used for marketing movies or videogames. Also not really good for paranoid people. |
