Job 39:9-12

Will the wild ox consent to serve you? Will it stay by your manger at night?

Can you hold it to the furrow with a harness? Will it till the valleys behind you?

Will you rely on it for its great strength? Will you leave your heavy work to it?

Can you trust it to haul in your grain and bring it to your threshing floor?

...What is this person on?

That said, satire or not the only resonable reaction to these people is to point and laugh at how stupid they are/are acting.

I have a bit of a dislike and distrust toward Christianity as well sigh. For starters your faith invaded my faiths lands, forced us to convert, slaughtered any who resisted, and have forever branded us as satan worshiping pagan sinners. But thats all in the past.

My modern life is a near daily assault from asshats wearing your colors telling me that I'm going to hell, burning crosses into my lawn, vandalizing my car, etc. Your own holy book tells me i'm doomed to eternal torment because i choose the wrong god and live a "life of sin" . They relish in the fact that the unworthy burn and attempt to remind us of it everyday. They love nothing more then to explain to me why i'm evil, which tends to ware on ones nerves.

I can't speak for Prof, but I can tell you why I dislike your faith.

@marioandsonic: The KJV refers to unicorns in Job 39:9-12. Pretty much no other English version refers to unicorns, except maybe the Wycliffe Bible. Most of them use wild oxen in that section instead. One version even says it was talking about a rhinoceros. It's very possible the usage of the word 'unicorn' was a mistranslation.

I could waste my time telling you why I hate your faith and those like it but it'd just be the same arguement I've had a million times before and I don't care to do it AGAIN on the internet for your or my benefit.

It suffices to say that I simply don't believe in the assertions of your holy doctrines and have seem them time and time again act as a detriment to our society as a whole. I disagree with and find disgusing the being that you hold as a deity and the nature of his existence as told through your scriptures.

I have faced endless scrutiny, abuse, etc throughout my life due to members of your faith and have seen very little to redeem it's near endless abuse and stupidity.

TL,DR

I don't believe in what you believe and find it detrimental to humanity as a whole.

Ah, that. I like to refer to THOSE kind of "Christians" as part of Cristendom, or basically those who are Christian only in name but in reality are nothing more than douchebags hiding behind a veil of religion.

In reality the Bible tells its followers to do nothing even remotely close to the crusades (which is what I'll assume you're referring to), not once does it feature the word Hell in it or even describes anything like it (the closest two that I could find are the lake of fire, which is a tool of destruction for Satan and his army of demons, not torture devices for people, and Sheol, which is just another name for the grave), and another reality is that not only did Jesus NOT die on a cross, but he and God both condemned the use of idols in worship, which is what the cross has become.

tl;dr don't hate the faith, hate the followers.

^I hate the faith and hate or like the followers on an individual basis. If I like you it's in spite of your beliefs. Kind of like how I jack off to cartoon horses. Maybe you meet me and think I'm a really nice guy. Maybe I make some yummy tea and we hang out and have some great conversations. Maybe you would say "Wow, that guy that jerks off to cartoons is not that bad."

Of course, I'm just a decent guy that does something you probably don't like. The thing I don't like isn't redeemed or whatever by that. It's just that I"m a person. Same as anyone else.

The "no true Scotsman" fallacy avails me none in the works of apologists for your beliefs.

I think the reason that some of us fall on the "no true Scotsman" fallacy is that the way that most, if not all, Christians (myself included) act in ways that are directly contrary to what Jesus, who we claim as our leader, told us to do.

Not talking about the rest of the Bible, just what is written as being what Jesus himself said.

some copy pasta from wiki:

Failed predictions

Watch Tower Society publications have claimed that God has used Jehovah's Witnesses (and formerly, the International Bible Students) to declare his will[319][320] and has provided advance knowledge about Armageddon and the establishment of God's kingdom.[321][322][323] Raymond Franz, who became a critic of the religion, has cited publications that claimed that God has used Jehovah's Witnesses and the International Bible Students as a modern-day prophet.[note 6] Jehovah's Witnesses' publications have made various predictions about world events they believe were prophesied in the Bible.[324][325] Failed predictions have led to the alteration or abandonment of some doctrines.[326][327] Critics highlight failed predictions that the Watch Tower Society had claimed were "beyond doubt" or "approved by God".[328] The Watch Tower Society rejects accusations that it is a false prophet.[329] It says that unlike Old Testament prophets, its interpretations of the Bible are not inspired or infallible,[330][331][332] and that its predictions were not claimed as "the words of Jehovah."[329] It states that some of its expectations have needed adjustment as a part of progressive revelation and of its eagerness for God's kingdom, adding that Witnesses are always ready to accept such adjustments and that it would be "foolish to take the view that expectations needing some adjustment should call into question the whole body of truth."[333][334] George D. Chryssides has suggested that with the exception of statements about 1914, 1925 and 1975, the changing views and dates of the Jehovah's Witnesses are largely attributable to changed understandings of biblical chronology than to failed predictions.[335]

Takashi your tendency to overreact and flare for the dramatic is the reason people tend to have a negative view of you. Everything was going fine until you decided to insert yourself into the conversation and it isn't appreciated. I'm respectfully asking you to stay out of this conversation and allow them to get back on track.

Please and thank you.

I'm dreadfully curious now, Takashi_0, what did you mean by saying that the Professor's answer to my Voltaire quote was "the worst possible"?

Just quoting Rarity, or is there something about the response you didn't like in particular?

Sigh, I'm a Pagan. Its a loose branch term that is ascribed to Nordic, Germaine, Celtic, and nature based forms of worship. It also inculdes (kinda) neo-pagan branchs such as Wicca, but they are a very recent addition.

I think it's unfortunate that Takashi hates humanity. It's not perfect but it's also wonderful. I'm looking at ponies, using a computer, talking to you, drinking soda, and living in a house because of humanity. I hope he can chill and learn to love again in time.

Shame too, because I've lived the last few years of my life doing everything I can to preserve and respect life. I'm a vegan; I don't even kill bugs; I work as a caregiver helping disabled people and the elderly during the day (for almost no pay) and start every day with a smile towards my fellow man and fellow creatures. I can't even begin to explain the thrill of going on my front porch every morning with an Irish Breakfast Tea and a cig throwing bread and seeds to all the hungry sparrows.

I'm not a saint, but I try to be a good person. But because I disagree with him Takashi thinks I'm the bane of existence and wishes what he believes to be the creator of reality to destroy all the world. It's sad because he doesn't even know me. Dude, just disagree and move on like everyone else has. also you can do this [img]"postanimage"[img] that's fun too.

Also don't take this the wrong way (is there a right way to take this?) but Wiccans are kind of a joke. They think their thing is so old when in reality it was just invented by some guy less than a century ago.

Takino, I would love to help provoke your interest but I'm afraid the Celtic side isn't my area of expertise. There's a lot of books online about it though. See I'm kind of like Twilight, I have a personal library or about 3-400 books and many of them are on the various subjects we have disccused here.

The tags don't lie, I've never seen ANYPONY on the internet discuss religion without it rapidly descending into a shit-slinging match.

I have nothing to contribute, and that is partly due to fatigue, and partly because it's all over my head (I guess you could say I'm far more ignorant of religion, in favour of focusing purely on one's actions and basing judgement on that). I will say that the commenters here deserve an internet

I usually do Irish Breakfast with a teaspoon of milk or a slice of lemon (but never both together - it just doesn't work)

I also like Lady Grey when I'm in the mood for something a bit lighter.

Earl Grey is nice too.

I used to have this huge tin with like a pound of chinese loose-leaf Tikuanyin tea, and it was awesome, but the only thing I had to go on as to where it came from was an address in Hong Kong on the bottom of the tin, so I've never been able to find more.

@Takino I can't use regular milk (the whole vegan thing) but sometimes I will use lemon with Earl grey. Rarely though.

@Zincy There's a health food shop here that I buy whole chamomile from and it's pretty good but I don't imagine it can compare to something as fresh as a plant plucked straight from your front yard.

I used to grow herbs, tomatoes, and peppers but Texas has had a wicked drought lately and so I can't grow anything anymore. We're even having to ration water. :/

Prof, VA is a veritable paradise if you know where to look. Wild strawberries, black berries, raspberries, various teas, cat-tail shoots, wild onions, wild carrots, various mushrooms, choke-berries (don't let the name fool you), Sage, thyme, wild garlic.

Dispite that, and due to lazyness, I do keep a small garden. Which inculdes the 5th hottest pepper in the world...I use it for soup.

@Takino Almond milk is good and I prefer it to soy and it tends to blend well enough in tea. (Though both soy and almond never gives the same pleasing "milk-tea" appearance of milk. I've never tried rice milk in tea. I should give it a go.

Times like this are what reminds me what makes this fandom special. Its not some grand unifying force, or some intangible ideal of "love and tolerance". Its our ability not to just over come our differences and hostilities, but leave them behind entirely. This isn't just "toleration" its true respect, something very, very rare.

Yeah, to me tolerance never was or will be about pretending that topics should be off limits or acting like we like or respect things that we don't. It's just saying our peace, moving on, and keep watching/posting ponies. People can think I'm a depraved pervert and I can think people are silly or prudish or whatever. The trick is to get past the superficial and into the substance. (IMO)

Since you probably skipped all of that too, here's the tl;dr version:
