The ship only whispered of in legends. Truly it gets glossed over, I think, due to lack of scenes and also if people want Rarity and someone more rough they go AJ and if they want Rainbow Dash with someone more girly they go Fluttershy |

@psychopomf, not just the lack of scenes, but the scenes that they are together, like in "Swarm of the Century" and during the "Art of the Dress" song, they just clearly have nothing in common at all. |

@7775 Rarity and Applejack share a lot in terms of work ethics, values, and maturity. Really, they're only different in terms of neatness and propriety. I can definitely see them being at least good friends, because their personalities do go together well once they've gotten past the surface differences.
I don't see that with Rarity and Rainbow Dash. They don't even have enough in common to have friction, they're just in two totally different realms. |

Well, what have we established? Hoers has eaten a dick, but beyond that, not much else.
Rarity and Rainbow Dash are from two different worlds, but not even direct opposites like Applejack and Rarity. Rainbow Dash has almost no interest in Rarity whatsoever, while Rarity has admitted Rainbow Dash is attractive and built like a tank. Rarity has a heteronormative romantic attraction mindset, so unless she convinces herself Rainbow Dash is more masculine then feminine, nothing is going to happen. Rarity potentially has a homosexual friction-based attraction mindset, but she only had that for Applejack in season 1. Season 2 however, friction, AND additional attraction have been canon on Rarity's side to Dash. This is not the worst ship. Not by a long shot. But it is still not very viable. Rainbow Dash still has no friction or attraction in general to Rarity. On the side of Dash, nearly every other ship is more likely. |

Raridash is a guilty pleasure. I most likely see it as a short term relationship built around spontaneous lust and sex (one sided or otherwise) but one that doesn't work out in the end...(some awkward comedic instances of embarassment or irritation on Dashies side, come to mind). Besides, not every relationship is successful from how alike or different two people are.
Also, its something different, which is always welcome. |

Finding herself blushing while reliving the moment she was picked up by those strong hooves and saving her from certain death, she sees her as a dream of guilty pleasure she can never let herself have, as that would be to abandon her own dreams of the royal dream stallion and becoming the pony everypony in Cantlerlot looks up to. The elite of Canterlot would never respect a fillyfooler from Ponyville who's with a lazy and brash pegasus with no sophistication. |
