Obviously it's not perfect (proportions are not quite accurate, since real humans have much smaller heads, and the ponies in the show have much bigger heads, and overall the quality isn't the greatest. Even so, this is hopefully a decent estimate of what Equestrian ponies would look like in comparison to humans while occupying the same space.

As long as I can give them lots of hugs I don't care how tall they are.

Looks good. That way the human crotch more or less lines up with the pony's plot.

The tail seems to be protruding from the butthole though. It should perhaps have been slightly higher up.

Maybe you could use an apple as a common object of reference (of course, operating under the assumption that Equestrian apples are the same size as humans are typically accustomed to).

We actually have proof of this in S2E12 when they mention the height of the candy cane Scootaloo's tongue was stuck to. It was 8 foot, and though leaning a bit, what Twilight meant was probably the length of the pole in total. Scootaloo was roughly 3 feet tall compared to it, and comparing her to other ponies, they're about a foot smaller, so a regular mare is about 4 feet tall :)

Looks about right.

Also couldn't help but lol at 787's comment. I suppose someone had to say it eventually, but that's the first thing you noticed? o_0

I can't help but imagine it would be more interesting if a human shows up...

And they're large enough to hold five ponies in the palm of their hand.

I think every height comparison chart shows the ponies to be about 1 meter tall, hoof to crown.

Here's a question: how much do our little ponies weigh?

That's exactly how I always imagined them. I don't understand why so many people draw them the size of a dog. That would be kind of weird when talking to them and everything...

They're little ponies I imagine them smaller because of the descriptor little and because Fluttershy is only a bit over twice the height of Angel Bunny

I always figured they'd be more waist-height, based on comparing them to the sizes of Equestrian wildlife which we have IRL (Such as rabbits and dogs). Then again, that's assuming that those animals are to the same scale as real life rabbits and dogs.

True, one could argue that real life ponies are about 14 hands (140 cm, approx) tall or less (Any taller and they are considered horses), and the average height of an American is about 175cm. This would put the tallest pony at about chest height of the human (As suggested by this picture). Then again, the title of the show is My LITTLE pony, which implies they are smaller than normal ponies. Don't forget, too, that 14 hands is the MAX height of a pony, meaning that average ponies are about 12 to 13 hands tall, putting them at about 120 to 130 cm tall. Given this, I am inclined to believe that your average sized pony such as Twilight Sparkle would be probably waist to navel height at best, while tall ponies such as Big Macintosh would be about chest height, and Princess Celestia would probably be about human height.

TL;DR:
This picture would appear to be most accurate. Also, it would put the average pony within the same golden rectangle ratio as that of humans, making it more artistic :). That, and it contains the Vitruvian Man.
