To be fair, the others only got dubious rumors that may or may not be true (I'm looking at you, Fluttershy), and they can always explain that they aren't true. Meanwhile Rarity got her secret diary published, that's the closest you can get to privacy that isn't a password. |

How should I put this?
These episodes have a terrible habit of reminding me of why I hate Rarity so much, for every time I start to think that I should not think of her so harshly. My esteem for her started to build up when she did decide to make it up to Sweetie Belle back in the Sister Hooves Social episode, but then she gave an example to Fluttershy how someone "asserts" herself in Putting Your Hooves Down. That one of the many instances that proves that she's just a manipulative hoe. In this episode, I thought Rarity would have been considerate with how her friends felt about the tabloids. She brushed off their criticisms and concerns until it was her turn to be on the tabloid. I guess she's just as "generous" as any isolated, self-absorbed upper-class rich person would be with the general populous. They don't truly relate, let alone understand the middle to lower class. So if anyone below the elites are having problems, it won't be their problem until it really does become their problem. Suffice it to say, Rarity does have some good qualities and personality traits to her. However, it's her bad habit of using her good looks and silvery tongue to manipulate others, on top of some other bad qualities that muddle the good that's in her. So in my head she's no shining jewel, but a diamond in the rough. |

The thing about her character development is like what I said in my tangent, it seems the writers have her go back two steps for every step forward she makes. For example, there was the incident in Sweet and Elite where she was lying to both her newfound upper class elite friends, and to her old friends from Ponyville (nevermind that window washer stallion, whom we'll never hear or see ever again). She did even worse to herself in this situation than she could ever have done with Prince Blue Blood. There I would have thought that she would have learned not to automatically make kissy face with someone of "importance" to be elevated to the same level as they are, if not higher. At least she would have tested them and really weighed if it would be worth associating with them at all. It's her stringing everyone along that get's me so riled up, the situations that these writers have come up for Rarity's "development" do next to nothing about that. I do wish they address this soonish. Not that they will have to be really harsh about it, but just something bad enough that would get everyone and especially her to reconsider her habits. Also don't think that I don't think of the other Mane 6 any more favorably than Rarity. I'd love to talk about why I hate the other 5, but that's a cool story for later bros. |

I disagree. Rarity has made great strides this season than last season. The thing is, Rarity at least comes to the realization when something is of or wrong herself. She doesn't usually rely on Celestia or other ponies to set her straight all the time. Also, prima donna is gonna prima donna. That's in her DNA. It's amazing she's actually a charitable pony when it's all said and done. |
