Genetic engineering researchers would want a more controlled experiment. This setup would be something psychology researchers would do (little control, just see what happens, not very good for scientific purposes, but at least it somewhat givs a starting point to ask questions from). |

This is kind of dumb. The protagonist insists they're going to kill all the fluffy ponies, then does just that. The researchers contribute nothing, the story might as well have been "You walk into a room filled with fluffy ponies and kill them" |
