I actually apologized to Slugbox. I like Cteno again becuase I now understand what he did in the last couple of posts. Anurae is the one we should be mad at. He isn't changing Cteno for the worst, but rather Anurae is being her usual self and Cteno got caught in the crossfire. |

Contrary to the previous comments, I don't believe that Cteno is in the least bit a "succubus", whether willing or unwilling. Calling her a "succubus" brings the notion that she, at the very start of her existence, was meant to be a lascivious, "other-worldly" nymphomaniac purposely seeking to drain the life force of others, which is opposite to her own character. She's a nice, well-meaning creature that has difficulty adjusting to the quirks of the world Slug has placed her in. She found love in Sooty, but has a job that while keeps her productive and gives her the satisfaction of being helpful (something she wants to be to other ponies/people in her world) makes her subject to more pornographic opportunities as well due to her physical composition and abilities.
IMO, with Cteno's experience and comprehension of her "world", it is almost like watching a child wander through a Red-Light District at night, and that same child is trying to comprehend it all, whilst seeing the various dregs of society(the gangsters, the pimps and their prostitutes, the down-and-outers seeking escape from the stresses and harsh realities of life by scoring an easy lay or another drink to drown their own sorrows, etc.), by relating it through limited perceptions, who gets abducted and is heard from no more. Just another casualty in a dark world. But whether I killed the joke or not, or don't realize that the "succubus" thing is a bit of a joke that flew over my head before and after typing and posting this, my point still stands; Cteno, in my eyes, is not a succubus. |

No, Succupus is the species of the red Succubus. Succubus is a general name. The species Cteno is, is unknown.

This is entirely unnecesary but I'm saying it anyway. I see terms such as "Succubus" or "Demon" or "Angel" in the fantasy realms as species names not titles. So if one were a Succubus in a fantasy realm of my creation or Ive had a hand in making and they were for example "rescued" by a band of adventurers while they were still a hatchling and therefore not "corrupted" by other Succubi or Demons they could be raised to see things from for example a Human's perspective. They would still have the appearance, powers, innate urges and would still be burnt by unforgiving deitie's holy symbols e.g. St. Cuthbert as would other Succubi. But they would have the morals and values of for example a lawful good fighter's wife, the will to resist a Succubus' innate desires and the ability to wield symbols of understanding deities e.g. Tyr or Lathander. So in my opinion Succubus is just a species name and even if Abyssal blood flow through their veins they could be raised under different morals. Just like how you don't have to own a dairy to be an Indian (to use a local stereotype) you don't have to be a foul temptress to be a Succubus. TL;DR Nurture can have a greater effect than Nature. Also Cteno could be doozy who lacks Succubine urges all together. It happens. |

The succupus looks troubled in some way. Maybe Cteno can go in and calm her down, maybe do some sort of "mind meld," but that could get Cteno upset, as she could mentally experience how the succupus was captured.
