im assuming applebloom is merry because AJ is the guy who dies that I cannot remember the name of. SweetieBelle is probably pippin because... well Im thinkin scootaloo is Sam and Pip is Frodo. and the rest should be pretty obvious. |

^I picked Celestia because of the mentor/mentee relationship between them before Saruman turns evil. I kind of see it as Celestia --> Molestia after looking into that Palantir thing long enough for the eye of Discord to corrupt her. |

Pinkie Pie is Smeagol, Pinkamena is Gollum, I see Fancy Pants as Celeborn, and Fluttershy would make a better Arwen (or Treebeard if you wanted to be silly).
AJ would be better as Aragorn, or possibly Gimli. RD would be better as Gimli and would also fit Boromir really well. Since Boromir was incredibly loyal until he fell under the 'spell' of the ring, and even then he was doing what he thought was best for his country (so many parallels). So, if you don't want any of the main six to die, then I'd do AJ = Aragorn, RD = Gimli, and some other pony as Boromir... Maybe Spike (considering the way he acted in Secret of my Excess) and then have Diamond Tiara as Grima (think family appreciation day). But I wouldn't want Spike to die either... I can't really think of another pony that fits Boromir. If you did make RD Boromir, then I'd be tempted to make AJ Gimli and Big Mac Aragorn. I mean, you have Rarity as Legolas and SweetieBelle as one of the Hobbits, so I don't think we're really following family here. Although AJ as Aragorn, Spike as Gimli, and Diamond Tiara as Grima would work too. Also, I'd put Braeburn as Faramir, NMM as Sauron, and the Shadowbolts as the Ringwraiths. I also like Celestia as Elrond and Trixie as Saruman. Denethor is problematic... Maybe that snobby pony from Sweet and Elite? I put way too much thought into all of this *sigh* |
