It's not as common in the middle east as you'd think, but in many places in Africa it's the norm.

Just.... Ugh. How could anyone disrespect women like that? I know, I know, I'm an American and I'm used to almost full rights for everyone, but Jesus fucking Christ. There's "cultural differences" and then there's "You're all sick fucks".

378: You know that Circumcision is still popular in 'Merica right? Do you know exactly what that entails? The most sensitive part of the male Genitalia is sliced away from a new-born infant. A heated brass rod is then used to cauterize the wound, this is done without anesthetic as dosage is too difficult to administer to an Infant safely. My point isn't to apologize for either practice of Genital Mutilation, my point is that both our Cultures have something deeply wrong and are traumatized on a profound level.

It's funny. I just took an Anthropology class focusing on Religion. Most of the chapters in our book were about the evils of Christianity and what it's done to the world, but there was a single chapter on female circumcision in the middle east and Africa.
It and the teacher tried to justify that while it was a partly religious practice, it had cultural relevance and that we as a culture shouldn't criticize those who commit such acts.

Just thought it was interesting 'tis all.

@078: It doesn't have much nerves-- people with circumcision envy just want everyone to think that it does. Anon 830 is just another hippie douche who is mad that in the school locker room he had a deep sea tube worm instead of an awesome mushroom like all of his friends, and that washing it is a pain in the dick.

We circumcise infants because it's more sanitary, and because we want them to get lots of blowjobs when they grow up. Circumcised men get more blowjobs than uncircumcised men, and this has been proven with science. You know why? Because women can't resist a 10% off special. (Also, uncircumcised penises are usually stinkier.)

Circumcision envy is a thing now? *sigh*

I dissaprove of all genital mutilation without the concent of the individual being mutilated. Female, male, all circumcision was born from religious delusion with few to no redeeming qualities.

And I loathe harmful religious traditions. Especially the way people try to justify these ancient, nonsensical behaviourisms, such as anon643 is trying to do here.

@Velcro

Removing anon643 blowjob argument, he is right. The reason boys were circuncised is because it makes easier to wash the 'thing'. There is nothing wrong with this, just like moms who pierce their baby daughters ears so they can wear earrings. It's not like they are losing an important body party.

Please try to let go of your religious hate.

Considering that it is a sensitive part of the penis that gives so much pleasure, I would understand why self-hating religious people would not want anyone to have them.

@065: Common canned argument from someone with circumcision envy: "You don't have as much pleasure during sex without your foreskin." Sorry, but that is bullshit, and plenty of scientific studies have proven it's bullshit. The presence or absence of a foreskin has no effect on pleasure during sex at all, unless there's a problem with someone's foreskin in which case removing it improves sex.

You know why circumcision supposedly comes from Western religions? Because if you get sand, or anything else stuck in your foreskin, you will probably get a nasty and PAINFUL infection. The infection rates amongst uncircumcised men during the North African theater of WW2 were so bad that the army had to fly in doctors to circumcise them, so keeping their foreskins into adulthood did not do them any favors.

There is nothing wrong with circumcising infants, because there is no evidence that it causes psychological problems in children or sexual problems in adults. No man ever remembers getting circumcised as an infant so it's not like anone cares. It's easier to get it out of the way while the child is an infant than it is when they are old enough to care, instead of waiting until a problem arises that necessitates circumcision when they're older. While some people circumcise their infant boys for religious tradition, most parents do it for convenience and cleanliness.

It really all boils down to this: every guy wants to think they have the best dick in the world, so naturally they will berate anyone else's dick for being different. "Your dick is smaller than mine, so it's not as good." "Your dick is bigger than mine, so it's not as good." "Your dick is a different shape from mine, so it's not as good." "Your dick is a different color than mine, so it's not as good." If it weren't for this self-conscious dick complex that most men have, there would be no debate about circumcision.

I can understand the hate on Female Genital Mutilation, its a deplorable act. For males though its a different thing. Cutting off a bit of skin is a lot different than removing the labia or clitoris.
bboifatz

Cutting off the clitoris is equivalent to cutting off a man's entire knob. The foreskin is just a flap of skin with *some* nerve endings in it (no-where near as many as there are in the tip of the penis itself), and it is definitely not deserving of the amount of reverence that certain foreskin-worshipping cults have for it.

114: I have been cut Fucktard, I don't know who came up with the term "Circumcision Envy." Sounds like something a Douche-hole Psyche Major came up with. Because obviously, anyone who opposes a Culturally-Sanctioned practice must be suffering from whatever Mental Condition is applicable: Or one that hasn't been discovered yet. Right? How about we say you are in denial and suffering from Penile Mutilation Denial/Compensation Disorder? Never-mind the debate about sanitation: I've seen both sides of that and there have been Physicians who have stated that believing that Circumcision makes the Penis Cleaner is like saying cutting off your eyelid makes your eye cleaner. One thing that should be undeniable though: Circumcising an Infant is effectively a form of Sexual Abuse. Just imagine the Outraged Horror that would ensue if someone were caught doing that to Infants under any other circumstance. Furthermore, if you're trying to tell me that there is no evidence that Circumcision causes problems you're in full blown-fucktarded denial. Can you really look at all the Issues Men have around their Sexuality that manifests itself in the form of Rapes, Relationship Problems, Adequacy issues and everything else I've missed: And definitively state that a traumatic experience such as Circumcision would not at least contribute to such issues?

345: Uh-huh? So even when you consider it carefully, you have no objection to Infants having their Penises Cut, causing them excruciating Pain? Do you think that if an Infant could consent to such a thing being done to them that they would? Our Society could at least have the Decency to stop taking that choice away and wait until People are old enough to decide if they want to have that done.
