Right, because the tumblr author forced her into a religion that incompatible both with Fluttershy's personality and with MLP in general. I'm sure that if you're half as a smart as you think you are you'll agree that there are a lot of parts in the bible that try to justify some pretty terrible things right? Would you then say that everyone who follows Christianity automatically supports and acts out all things written in the bible, right down to the last sentence? Of course not, because the point of religion to a wide majority of people is simply using it as a means of spiritual guidance or as a means to better themselves. I'm sure there are people are out there who act just like you after having read the bible and now act out against anyone who follows Christianity for not understanding this.
There is no "issue" here other than the fact that you seem to have some clear bias opinion against a particular religion and have taken upon yourself to "preach" your "concerns" to others on this site. To them you're nothing but a self righteous opinionated ass who feels they need to "educate" everyone, and for what? So that people will see the "horrors" of an adorable image of Islamashy? @477: I know a few muslims, they are a sizeable minority in Germany.
I don't have an opinion on all muslims per se, I judge them on a personal basis like I would all people. I do have a slightly negative disposition. To put it in D&D terms, being muslim would give someone a -5 on my initial reaction. This is not due to personal experience, that would be a guilt by association fallacy, it's simply due to how they classify themselves. If someone says he's muslim, I assume that he believes the Qu'ran to be a good moral guide. It's possible that he's just a muslim by name, like most christians in Europe are, but I have to work with what he gives me, not with what I hope he's like, so my general opinion on muslims is slightly more negative than say my general opinion of non-religious people. A few muslims have personally wronged me, but not because of their religion, so it's irrelevant to my view on Islam. What gives me the right to condemn a religion the dogma of that religion. I can condemn Islam without having met a single muslim in my life, just by reading the Qu'ran. Condemning a religion is not the same as condemning all its followers, though. I'm certain nobody here approves of the ancient Incan religion, what with all their human sacrifice and ripping the heart out while it's still beating, etc, that doesn't mean every last Incan was an asshole, just that their religion was retarded and backwards. Not all religions have produced violence, look up Jainism. That's something you could call "religion of peace". Again, I never said that I only dislike Islam. Most of the major religions in the world are shit, that doesn't mean I can't criticize Islam. And no, Muslims are demonized, quite the opposite. It's a nice fairy tale that muslim apologists have spun, but the sad truth is that you can't criticize Islam without getting ugly words tossed your way in western society. The best example is that certain people here insist on calling me racist just for my opinion on Islam. My dislike for Islam is certainly not politically motivated. Unfortunately, most of the people in my political spectrum don't share my opinion on Islam at all and it's one of the issues that often puts me at odds with other liberals. |

Yet I could insult Judaism as much as I like while receiving barely any attention. I was also mostly talking about Europe and not the US. American society is heavily influenced by the christian right, is hated disproportionately by the muslim world and generally has issues with Islam ever since muslims flew planes into the WTC. These special privileges I was talking about are mostly in Europe. For example muslim nurses and doctors in the UK can disregard certain health regulations to "protect their modesty" (Source). Also muslims are quite literally forcing halal meat down people's throats. They get to ignore certain animal cruelty laws and are allowed to slaughter an animal by having it slowly choke to death on its own blood. As if that weren't enough, that meat doesn't even have to be labelled as such. @630: I love how it's a whole article about how much Germans supposedly hate Islam and only one paragraph highlighting the real issue: The survey also showed that Germans had a more negative view than other countries of Jews, Hindus and Buddhists, and that only 49 per cent of western Germans and 53 per cent of easterners believed all religious groups should have equal rights, against 72 per cent in Denmark, 82 per cent in the Netherlands, 86 per cent in France and 89 per cent in Portugal. So apparently Islam has nothing to do with it. ...O-kay...After spending far more time on this than what I needed to, let me add some clarification: Fluttershy wearing that outfit? That's not a Islamic mandate; it's a CULTURAL MANDATE! Depending on the region in the Middle East, some counrties have head-scarves that would barely qualify as a head-scarf, while others have women covered up even more than Fluttershy here. It's not a mandate of Islam, the Qu'ran never mentions a "dress-code" for women like what we see nowadays. The dress-code over there is instead determined by the CULTURE of the people in a specific region, which is why some nations in the Middle East can be wildly different than others when it comes to how women dress. So, all this complaining and flaming and grand-standing everyone here has been doing? (Some more than others I'll grant you, but still.) What you're fighting about, namely Fluttershy wearing a CULTURAL OUTFIT FROM A SPECIFIC CULTURE, has absolutely NOTHING to do with Islam. For all we may know, in this ponyverse, this Fluttershy is their world's equivalent of a Coptic Christian, or Arab Christian, or Eastern Orthodox Christian, a Roman Catholic Christian, a Semitic Hebrew, a native Orthodox Jew, a Samaritan, a Sunni Muslim or a Shia Muslim or a Suufi Muslim. She could be part of ANY, A-N-Y of these religions, and it wouldn't matter because her outfit is a CULTURAL OUTFIT! While Islam may not mandate the hijab in the eyes of some moderate muslims, that doesn't mean the hijab isn't connected to Islam.
