Soviets attacking an Islamic like place?

Eh, kinda the last people I expected to do something like that, maybe Muslim ponies, but hey, should be interesting.

I was more thinking of Israel, but it makes more sense as Afghanistan. I'm just under the impression the place is like Israel since the blog is Islamshy after all.

Rocket arty piece doesn't match with anything in the Soviet/Russian inventory. There just isn't anything with that dual launcher configuration. Closest I can find is the LAR-160 which is an Israelis piece, which is ironic on multiple levels...

I think it could be the US's MRLS (Multiple Rocket Launcher System) or something, which is even weirder...

ObssN here, too lazy to log-in right now...

^Nope. The United States M270 uses only a single "flat" launcher. The vehicle in the picture has a pair of "long" launchers.

Compare, M270:

Versus the LAR-160:

For the record, Soviet/Russian MRLS's launchers tend to be in a "clustered tubes", rails, or a single "box" launcher.

As examples, the BM-30 'Smerch' has a "clustered tubes"-style launcher:

The BM-13 (ye olde 'Katyusha') has a "rails"-style launcher:

And the BM-21 'Grad' has a "box" style launcher.
