It's called a gate, OP.
A lot of capital cities built around castles have them. |
| CogWeaver #1201832 3 months ago |
Something having to do with day/night, a gatehouse, a waterfall, and an exploded kingdom hearts?
I agree with 811 |

On a side note, the slits off the turrets on the gatehouse are clearly designed for archers. |

that is a very correct tag |

Oh no guys where did that cloud factory come from?! |
| CogWeaver #1201865 3 months ago |
@841
I believe they're called crenelations, anon |

@Babading
I don't know if it's just the lighting or what, but man, that is quite an improvement of detail. |

with cloudsdale it's made of clouds, you can assume it's pretty malleable as a city. |
| PhilSrobeighn #1201877 3 months ago |
I think, Cog, that the OP sees a group of ponies entering the city gate, thinks that it is the theatre/opera house/performing arts center the play is being held in, and is complaining that the nearby mountain is not visable through the windows and that the Fire of Friendship is not iluminating the sky or reflecting off of the mountain. |

Until we see a rotating, 360-degree view of Canterlot, we can't really infer anything. There are probably buildings and details we can't see.
Besides, back in "Family Appreciation Day", we see when the gates of Canterlot are opened, it opened into an open-air market. |

It obviously used to be on the other side of the city. That's the advantage with cloud based architecture I guess. |

If they have half a clue they'll NEVER make a fully detailed model of the city. So long as it's vague they can play with the uncertainty and add or subtract features as needed. |
