Yes, Nightmare Moon is a very generic villain in terms of basic character design. I'm not saying it's a bad thing necessarily, it can be done pretty well. If NMM weren't a canon character though, and a fan had written about a dark, night-alicorn with godly powers, the eye rolling from the fandom would have knocked the earth off its axis. Nightmare Moon served her purpose in the story, but it's laughable to think she's a particularly creative character, even if she is canon. |
