It's really fun to watch all the conservatives squirm. That whole "oh no Obama! Terrible president!"...and then they hav to think about who they're going to vote for, which happen to be exactly the kind of candidates the conservatives asked for: a libertarian who embodies the tea party ideals, a superconservative who has enuff bigotry and ethnocentrism to meet the quotas of every other candidate (not that the first one on this list needed any more to fill the quota), a populist who just happens to be Conservative at his core, and I really can't remember what Newt Gingrich was about.
Obama's not perfect by any standard. Signing NDAA and not pushing as much on Guantanamo are huge failures, but he's made significant progress in other areas. Oh wait, preventing employers from forcing their religious views on women is considered a freedom of [forcing our] religion [on others] violation by the Republicans. Repealing Don't ask, Don't tell doesn't chide well with bigots. For that matter, rejecting an all-or-nothing one-month deadline for something that could wreak environmental havoc makes u look like u want high gas prices. Don't even try to get people affordable healthcare that lasts their whole lives and doesn't get dropped because they're already sikk, people will complain that it's unconstitutional because of one provision that covers something the constitution never talked about. Most important of all is the idea that the president is a wizard who directly controls the economy. This isn't soviet russia, the president can't do much more than giv out a bunch of money to certain projects and hope for the best. The culmination of all the ways people oppose Obama's policies: the Republican candidates. |

If there isn't an acceptable candidate, don't vote in that race. Do, however, cast votes on other items on the ballot.
I wish someone would put forth a "we don't know who we're gonna vote for" slate of electors. I'd vote for that. |
