Have you all stopped to think that maybe you all are the reasons as to why many, op an exception, are leaving the fandom? This is probably the worst fandom I've ever seen or been a part of. I don't even know why I associate myself with you heartless bastards. Why can't we just love all. Why do you think I hardly talk here anymore? There is no love, no happiness, no fun. Just a bunch of perverts insulting one another. This is also THE SITE for pony stuff. Anywehere else is boring or too small. We, Ponibooru, represent the fandom as a whole. Soon, we'll be on the news, claimed as a terrible part of the furry community. I still come here obviously, just to see pics, but not much in the form of comments. And yes, I am perverted myself, but I can still see innocence and cutness in the show. I liked the show because of Ponies. The shoutouts, the references, the songs were just perks. I have to say, I've never been concerned with "being a part" of a fandom. Groups have never done well, for me. I've heard a lot about how terrible this fandom is, and I have seen some bad stuff. But it still has nothing on gamers. And that's why I won't let the fandom determine how I feel about anything. Gamers are absolutely vile rage-aholics. I love games (and similarily-MLP) too much to let them ruin it for me.
Before you decide to 'leave the fandom', consider where you get your enjoyment from. Is it the product, or the fandom? Here's an all-important detail to remember: the Fandom is NOT product. TL:DR Fanon is not Canon.

In any sort of fandom with large communities especially you will find the more unpleasant people. I know people have their own opinions or experience in certain communities. But if anyone thinks this fandom is the worst of the worst without anything to support it. I recommend that they check the other fandoms before jumping to conclusions. I've been in numerous great anime, game, and franchise fandoms large or small alike, believe me they can very over-Dramatic, dillusional hentai perverts and idiots who flame at nothing and over react to even the smallest of things in order to turn it into something of a big deal. Everyone's experience varies. |

@NonAnon I couldn't agree more about those "gamers", especially those who play over rated FPS games. Heck I've even heard of a person who got tracked by and stabbed by those egotistic f@$^#%. I'm not saying all people who game(FPS, RPG, etc) are bad.
But from my own experience with haters on Youtube and other stream sites. When I checked their channels, they often insecure little failures who are "fans" of FPS games. Some of those people even videos giving negative advice on how to hack games or cheat on tests. Most only do this because they know they are protected by the anomaly of the Internet. The reason why I call them "gamers" is because they are not real, they are nothing but egotistical rage quitters who blame everything on others for their failures and resort to verbal warfare and hacks. |

After a short period of peace and friendliness we had here we are slipping back into a 4chan like culture that offers no kindness or intelligent answers, only gif spams an insults. I know some of the above guys are perversely proud of that, but there was a brief time when we were a truly friendly community. It's just kind of sad that the "fans" that remain are the antithesis of the show. Lauren Faust is gonna be laughed at for praising the feminism and the friendly message when all the fans do is make porn and fight. I appreciate all of you who put up with the site despite all this. But please understand how we enjoyed it more when it was friendlier. For the trolls, it really does not matter what happens. They will hang on the net all day tomorrow anyway, they'll never contribute enough to care for a place anyway, they'll never make any friends tomorrow either anyway. 1. Poniburro, as much as its collective over-inflated ego likes to think it does, does NOT represent the fandom as a whole. Not even close. The fact that there's tons of Nyx art (and i'm not just talking about the hate art) here and especially on EQD despite the fact that it's hated to death here, is a testimate to that. In fact, outside of EQD or Deviantart/Furaffinity artists stealing the occasional meme from us here and there, NO ONE outside of poniburro gives two fucks about what poniburro does or thinks. That being said, the idea that poniburro would ever get on the news is pretty ridiculous. 2ndly... Poniburro/chan was more or less born out of 4chan. Seeing how many of it's members were or still are members of that site the way they act is hardly surprising. And third, even if that 2nd part wasn't true at all, It's a board with almost no moderation, no rules when it comes to commenting, and it allows for anonymous posting. Such conditions draw trolls, flamers, and general assholes like honey draws flies and wasps. I mean, Really, what did you expect?! |

Vree, you're right. Things were nicer back then as a whole. However, Ponibooru isn't made up of the same people as then. Unfortunate that it may be that attitudes are hardened all around and hides thickened, the silver lining is that we become more able to deal with the undesirable things and brush off easier.

Oh, I remember the name Blaze-Bolt. I've seen a few comments here and there, but nothing of his personality.
Ponibooru consists of a lot of coarse users. However, there are other parts of the community that are much nicer...and even within those communities are sects of people who are very nice compared to other sects. (e.g., Most of the people who post in the comments of the KYM comments of the FiM article are different and act differently than those who post in the Pony General thread.) Like Ponibooru, Roboshi is a really nice robo...British guy, draconequus seems to be nice as well, HeinousActs seems to be decent as well, Drpepperfan and Blue Yoshi are decent folks I know from KYM, and there are a lot of Anons that are nice too and are really smart. But if you're growing tired of the show and the fandom on the whole, and if you think the title "brony" doesn't fit you anymore, then don't wear it. Just keep on keepin' on, and watch the show if you have the time. I hope you remember the good times you've had around the community. Long after I leave, I know I'll have fond memories. Peace, bro. |
