Off the top of my head, Fluttershy would be Lightning, Trixie would have to be Kefka (Comedic relief villain that no one takes seriously that ends up fucking the world sideways with a chainsaw? Oh, yes.) and Pinkie Pie would be Sephiroth, because the mood dissonance is hilarious. |

And to be honest, I think Final Fantasy stopped being good after 6. The sprite-based games were the best, imo. And I'm no purist. The fanbase and the games in general just went downhill into silly long-ass cutscene Bishounen land.
At least Lightning was cute though. Shame her games were a steaming pile of dog shit. |

I did like some parts of X and enjoyed some of the character development I just never felt like punching a main character so hard since Squall. However I can't fault X.... It did do at least ONE thing right

6 was the last one where I actually kind of cared about the characters. Also, while 7 wasn't even really terrible, I will always be annoyed by it for the fact that 8 and 9 were both worse then they should have been because of it. After that it has just been a giant cut scene/voice acting wankfest.
As to the actual question, I'd think it would probably have to do with some insane Discord cultist or something stealing the statue and siphoning power from it to destabilize the world. |

By "Final Fantasy-esque game" are you just saying RPG?
Because I'd rather have a pony RPG in the same world as the show instead of a Final Fantasy knockoff. Obviously with a more overarching, monster-slaying plot, but basically a quest against Discord (most likely), Nightmare Moon, or some other villain. Krastos the Glue Maker, maybe? |

I think most peope think IX was bad because the majority of people who bitch about it had only played 7 and 8, so when one starring a kid without a gunblade or wangst came out they weren't sure how to react since they hadn't played the previous games. That's just my little theory anyways. :Vc |

The main problem with 9 was the fact that after the backlash against 8, which was created in an attempt to recreate the 7 cash machine that is still running today, they went too far back. Everything in 9 is a throwback to an earlier version of Final Fantasy. That's not to say its a bad game, I personal enjoyed it, its just that by chaining so closely to what Final Fantasy was it had no real room for even the token differences FF tends to use. |

If This show were an RPG,it will definitely have a lot of Final Fantasy elements along with the settings,but as for the stories,it would follow the Dragon Quest formula. |

I love FF-XIII because of Lightning.
I love FF-X because of Jecht,Auron and Rikku (a.k.a Tara Strong) But My favorite FFs are VI,VII(even though Sephiroth was a lame ass villian imo) and IX. As for OP question,I will have to go with anons 887 and 888. |

My idea for an opening to a MLP RPG:
It starts out similar to the end of the first part of The Return of Harmony. However, this time, Discord and the ponies he's brainwashed fight Twilight in the opening (one of those "supposed-to-lose" fights). Just before the final blow, Celestia swoops in and teleports her and Twilight back to Celestia's castle. Some time later, Twilight wakes up, having been knocked out from the fight. She finds Celestia waiting for her, explaining the situation, and tells Twilight that Discord scattered the Elements, along with her friends across Equestria. As soon as she's finished, a guard bursts in and informs the two that Discord is on his way there. Celestia orders Twilight to run as fast as she can. Twilight runs back to Ponyville, but not before looking back at Canterlot and seeing the beautiful castle become nightmarish. Twilight then sees that Ponyville has become something out of a funhouse. Although things look utterly hopeless, Twilight is not willing to give up. She will find a way to save her friends, find the elements, and put an end to Discord's reign. She will fight for Celestia! For her friends! For herself! FOR EQUESTRIA!!! ... And that's the prologue. |

I'm helping a friend of mine on this Pony RPG project he has cooking up. It will take place mainly in the Griffin Kingdom, have around 40 playable characters, and OCs are being used for the supporting cast and the villains. All of this is subject to change, considering it's in the beta stage as of now. |

I would want a combination of MLP and Final Fantasy Tactics. I think it would be pretty awesome, especially if the classes were race oriented. For example, only a unicorn could be a black mage, and only an earth pony could be a Monk or something. |

I liked both X and XIII for what they were, X more so because while they over used the cut scene and voice acting it was new so I was willing to let it slide.
XIII was an interesting approach but at the rate they're cutting out actual game play for automation I'm waiting for the one where its just a bunch of quicktime events between cut scenes. |
