The problem with the tags is that people don't set them.

I'm too stupid to do the image link thing, but just go to any recent picture sporting black human versions of the Mane 6.

Also, to answer meta in question:

The trolls that are racist here will not filter black. They will purposefully seek it out to say racist bullshit. In fact, the last human cosplay picture of twilight was a young black woman and I fought with those tags for hours while a non-anon (don't remember user name) kept setting it to "Adorkable-Niggers."

In summation, nothing will stop the racist pricks.

Well I tried, but the only image that came up that had some content that may be considered racist was >>154759 (the link is plaintext btw). That's hardly what I would call rampant racism.

And. Wouldn't having to tag the images with black_character_name be worse.

Tagging porn because people don't want to see it is one thing, but tagging characters with different skin tones just because people don't like to see them, well that just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

While it may be true that the racist anons will purposefully seek it out the rest of the people who dislike or disagree with it will finally be content.

And regardless of whether or not it leaves a bad taste in your mouth it will still keep down the unnecessary shitstorms and spiteful arguments that occur in the comments on those kinds of pictures.

Also, if we do this, we also have to tag white_character, Asian_character, Indian_character.
Now backtrack through your own logic to tell me why I'm wrong.
CodenameOne

I haven't seen too many people be racist against white, Asian, Indian, or any other kind of ethnicity in humanized pictures besides black. If someone does complain then set the appropriate tag and the user can filter it.

Look, if we started doing this we would have an entirely different shitstorm on our heads. A much worse one. People would be pointing at ponibooru calling us racist fucks for trying to appease racists.

Don't we basically have this with the "muslim" and "hijab" tags? In case you haven't noticed, they don't really do a good job of stopping people from starting shitstorms about Islam.

Don has the right idea.
If people are unable to deal with the sight of people that look different from them, they shouldn't be on Ponibooru, they should be in a psychiatrists office.
CodenameOne
#1189279

As previously mentioned Harlequin the actual racists will always seek out those things and purposefully hate on them. But I'm sure there are people who do make use of those tags and do filter it.

And Don, I doubt Ponibooru gets that much attention. The filters exist for a reason, and if too many people don't like any one thing then there should be an appropriate tag created so they can filter it. The real racists will still hate on it because that's where they get their kicks, but at that point they don't even count because they're just being trolls.

Because it sure seems that way.
CodenameOne

It will help, Takashi, I'm sure.

And no, I am not a racist, I am not anywhere close to being a racist, and I never will be a racist. I'm presenting a logical and intelligent solution to the issue of people not liking human versions of ponies that are of illogical and implausible ethnicities.

On a more personal note take your shit-talking elsewhere, fuckhead. I have made legitimate and intelligent points and have offered a logical solution and under no circumstance am I one of those 'faggot OPs.'

This one statement really threw me off

"I'm presenting a logical and intelligent solution to the issue of people not liking human versions of ponies that are of illogical and implausible ethnicities."

I'm not really sure if you meant to imply anything, but that really came out the wrong way.

Want a universal solution to the rampant "racism" (despite only a few individuals actually being racist)? Tag some bathrooms with "Colored People" so they can be filtered out.

There. Problem solved.

You're welcome.

PS: don't tell me that if they don't like it then they should just ignore it. It doesn't work that way. Out of sight, out of mind.
CodenameOne

I suppose I should explain.

Yesterday I got into a discussion about basic human logic in a screencap of a DeviantArt post about(what else?) different ethnicities in humanized ponies. I pointed out that Zebras are analogous to Africans and Buffalo are analogous to Native Americans. I went on to say that none of the Mane 6 or either of the Princesses are Zebras or Buffalo or anything else of the sort. Ergo logic would dictate that they would not be black or Native American.

The racism issue really has taken a life of its own, and while I think racism is something we have to be aware of and treat with appropriate contempt, it is true that its as old as time and not going anywhere.

I think in some ways all this attention is empowering for genuine racists on this site, since its not hard to see that the race issue consistently riles up bronies, and causes shitstorms. Its alot of attention for a tiny-brained, weak little man.

Its very much a kind of power to be able to influence peoples reactions in such a way and I'd rather not let them have that over me.

There's no real racism issue I know of. The Anon kid that's spamming 'nigger' isn't racist, he's just annoying. The only other guy I know is @Codename, and he's not being racist consciously, he's just presses an irrevelant question a little too hard.

Now if we started singling out those pics, that could be the start of something bad. (Another exmple of @Code not realizing what he's suggesting.)
CodenameOne

I may be being racist subconsciously by saying we should create tags so they can be filtered but wouldn't that make everybody happy? No one would have an excuse for complaining and everyone else could enjoy their ethnicities in peace(with the exception of trolls, but, you know...screw them.)
Don
#1189639
The vast majority of us already do enjoy our ethnicities. The only people this would effect positively are the one or two racists that for some reason start raging when they see differently colored people by accident.

Let's just hide away different people and pretend they don't exist. Is this starting to remind you of something by the way?
CodenameOne
#1189669
You can only pretend for so long.

And not ALL of them are racist; I know of plenty of people that dislike certain human ponies when they are of an ethnicity that makes no logical sense(like I said in one of my previous comments.)

I still believe that if someone doesn't like something they should be able to filter it, and the same should apply to certain human pony ethnicities.

I understand your suggestion (I might even agree if it weren't for the implications that some have pointed out), but it's ultimately too sensitive an issue to handle with any semblance of a delicate touch.

For example, we've got a Ponibooru resident who is mad whenever he sees a Derpy/Dinky picture. One could argue that, since "logic" dictates that those two can't be related, this person's pet peeve is important that we should tag these pictures different so that they do not accidentally offend his sensibilities (and of any other imagined people who also does not like that pairing).

But in the end I think the ones we help are those who are too sensitive for their own good and trolls. (who can now simply search for the images they want to haunt.) What do you think is more likely to happen: that the guy that's spamming 'nigger' will politely add the tag to his filters, or that he'll be even more effective at finding stuff to complain about?

Even if someone's such a desperate racist that he can't stand even the mere sight, it can be seen even from the thumbnails that the picture includes a black person. How hard can it be to NOT click it?
