King of the Hill is also a cartoon but I don't see them acting like Looney Tunes or anything.
There's a certain silly/seriousness that FiM has about it and having Rainbow Dash's eyeballs break through and stick out of a tree trunk is a hair over the line. I'm fairly certain that I'm not the only person to have that opinion. |

@mindcannon: Yes seriousness. I personally don't have a problem with scenes like this, but it's obvious FiM does have its more dramatic moments where we're expected to take things seriously. |

How exactly does "dramatic moments where we're expected to take things seriously" translate to "grimdark"? Anyways, the job of over-the-top cartoon antics used to belong to Pinkie. Now it's spilling over to everyone else. Personally, I feel that it cheapens the show and diminishes Pinkie's impact and character. If these type of zany-wacky things become more prevailent, I fear I may lose interest in the show and I don't want that! |
