I don't actually think so, I've seen a lot less anti-oc crap lately. People seem to be getting over that. I think the real drive for the anti-oc stuff was people fearing it would turn into the sonic fan character crap. But worrying about that is pretty pointless, it's going to happen either way, it's just a matter of paying attention to the good original characters. The ask blogs are helping with that for sure, people accepting characters like Aquilinus or Pia Ikea. Then there are characters like Little Pip, Blackjack, and others that have their own stories too. It makes me hopeful that original characters will continue to advance, and we can see more original content from the fandom, even in stories and comics as we are now. |

But I agree, I enjoy loads of unique, fan-made characters. Hell, on the quiet I even have a ponysona. We just tackle it differently, I guess. Rather than have thousands of very obscure ponies with tonnes of powers and abilities, we have unobtrusive, well drawn and, above all, enjoyable characters. Mind you, I know that loads of recycled vectors exist out there. One trip to DA reveals quite a few pony bases made for OCs. |
