So here we go, the Ponibooru Board Helper userscript is almost ready. If you don't know what I'm talking about, see >>148817 and >>153265
I'm the developer, and also the-user-formerly-known-as-MenHnnngingWithChestPain.

Now it just needs some beta test. I'm looking for some volounteers for that.
I've been developing and testing the script using Google Chrome 19 dev, Mozilla Firefox 11.0 and Opera 11.61, all on Windows 7 32-bit. Everything seems to work fine (except for the thumbnail size change, which is based on a CSS property supported by Chrome and IE only), but I need feedback from real users.

The userscript currently on every modern browser with Greasemonkey/userscript support, which are:
  • Mozilla Firefox (with the Greasemonkey add-on);
  • Google Chrome (with native support);
  • Opera (with native support);
  • Safari (with SIMBL and GreaseKit);

I didn't test it on Safari, so I think someone should try.
I've decided to drop Internet Explorer support for now, since it seems there aren't any updated plugins to run userscripts. If you want to try, there are old plugins like IE7Pro and Trixie that should still work (I haven't checked), but use them with IE9 only, which is a great improvement in standard compatibility.
Also, some testing on MacOS and Linux would be great.

A beta tester should use the script in every aspect and feature, look for problems, bugs, bad grammar (English is not my mother language) and unexpected behaviour, stressing it in intensive sessions or in typical daily usage sessions, using preferably more than one browser (mainly to check for common problems), and give the results to the developer (me), and maybe some advices about the user experience, the graphics or whatever.

I won't be responsible for any damage to your hardware and/or software. That being said, I think it's extremely unlikely that something like that will ever happen. I really see no way how a userscript can do anything bad, if you exclude bugs of the browser itself. If things really suck, just uninstall the script, and call yourself out.

Things that should work so far:
  • image lists with 12, 24 or 36 thumbnails;
  • custom thumbnail size (only in Chrome);
  • comment images screen fitting;
  • maximum number of images in comments;
  • spoilers unveiling on text selection, mouse hover or click;
  • embedding of Youtube videos;
  • "quote comment" button;
  • links to quoted comments;
  • comment author blacklist;
  • comment word blacklist (not for anonymous comment only anymore);
  • comment list reloading;
  • comment preview;
  • permanent blotter hiding;
  • user option menu (clicking on username's links);
  • new private message interface with message preview;
  • image size warning on link opening;
  • another surprise!

Send me a private message if you want to be a beta tester for the Ponibooru Board Helper and enjoy its benefits before it's released to the public.
Describe the platform you're going to use and you'll receive instructions about downloading and installing the script.

Right guys, keep sending me messages if you want to become beta testers. Now I have to go to bed (it's 0:20 here... had a rugby match today... tomorrow I have to work... sorry). I'll answer as soon as possible.

So far, my biggest fear is finding out what the "Show Pinkie Pie at random" option does.

My luck, she'll breach the fourth wall--

*watches as Pinkie quietly trots across the screen as he is writing this comment*

Oh. Nothing to fear, then.

One thing I have noticed so far is that the "Warn me about image size" function doesn't work if you open images in separate tabs. This is on Firefox 11.0

Looks like some awesome features.

But you know what'd be even MORE awesome than all of that?

[spoilers]Having moderators who did their fucking jobs and banned assholes/deleted pictures specifically made to start shitstorms.

Or at least a fucking "Report comment/user" button so we could finally get rid of the retards spamming copy pasta on Nyx and Black human pictures and other wastes of human resources.[/spoilers]

And how about an "edit comment" button while you're at it?

I wish I could do it, but I can't. If Ponibooru doesn't support comment reporting or editing, I can't do anything about it.
I can allow comment editing, but the edit wouldn't be saved. And I don't know where to send those reports, definitely sending messages to Eco is out of question.

Nice catch. It's the same in Chrome, too. Well I can't capture the right-click action, so there's little I can do. Disabling right-click isn't something I want to do. People should use the middle mouse button to open images in a new tab.

Every time I reload the comments I get an addition Preview Comment Button. They are all functional as far as I know.
I tested this on about 5 images and it was the same each time.

Yes, AppleDash, I already noticed it, it's already fixed in the next version :)

Something very weird just happened. I got an entire copy of the page (minus a few things such as ads) in the comments section of the picture.

Screenshot is huge so link

Screenshot kind of sucks so I can get a better one if you need it.

Note the bottom image has more faves, it might try to reload the entire page if any information such as favorites or score change. Other than that, I don't know.

I was able to duplicate the effects. I opened up a picture in two tabs, favorited it in one, and reloaded comments in the other.

It only seems to work in images with no comments.

Tested it again and it does work with score as well.

Oh and just to clarify using the reload comment function was necessary all 3 times, sorry I forgot to mention that the first time.

Also quadruple post

I'm not sure if this is a bug but Pinkie can show up in the ads as well.

Scratch my earlier comments about the score or faves needing to change. All you do is reload the comments on a page with no comments (Before and after) and you get the same deal as in @1188104

Also sextuple post

Pros:
  • Post preview! Huzzah! Celestia loves you!
  • The quote button. This changes everything.
  • Seems to work with the Tag History script
  • 24/36 images per page works fine
  • Does not seem to do anything malicious in the background, like sniff out my passwords

    Cons/bugs/missing things:
  • The script doesn't actually remove any blacklisted comments, it simply hides them. It's debatable, but if you ask me, blacklist should delete, not hide.
  • The "max images in comments" does not to work
  • No way to hide anon-posted images in comments. Not a biggie, I have another script for that.
  • Add ability to see images a user has commented on. The URL syntax is:
    www.ponibooru.org/post/list/commented_by=UsernameHere/1
  • The popup menu you get when clicking on poster's name does not always appear above the name. If the page is scrolled down, the menu disappears unless you scroll back up.
  • Post preview seems to mess up list tags (just noticed this :-) )

    There seems to be some intermittent problem with Greasemonkey: sometimes it runs the script right after the page has been loaded but before images or anything else has been loaded. Sometimes the script runs AFTER everything has been loaded, it seems to be inconsistent and I really don't know why. The docs say it should run right after the load. Visiting the 100000th image will still probably kill your browser. Fortunately most GIF threads don't grow that big. Browser cache also affects everything.

    I just noticed you guys replied to this post. I haven't checked it in a while, so if you want to be sure to get my attention you should send me a PM.
    I'll check all the issues later.

    Pinkie Pie walking on the ads is really weird, but funny thing anyway so I'm not sure if I'll remove it XD

    This one was easy to fix. Thank you.

    • Many forums let you show the comment anyway. In a previous version, the comment was completely deleted. I think I'll let the user choose the preferred behaviour.
    • Did you put '0' as the limit? There was a bug, I've fixed it.
    • I'll consider putting an option about it. What script are you talking about, by the way?
    • Awesome, I'll add it for sure!
    • Uh, I don't think I got this one... the menu box should appear below the name. Can you post a screenshot of the issue?
    • The preview comment feature shouldn't have anything to do with the tag list. A screenshot of this one too?

    Image 100000 would kill any browser, but limiting the number of images I managed to display it with no problems at all with Chrome. On Firefox, the script should be run even before Chrome does, so I don't get how that happened. The only thing I know is that I have no control over it, or better, I can let the script run a bit after, which shouldn't help at all...

    I just noticed I have to fix the HTML-BBCode converter, it gets some things wrong.

    P.S.: stealing your password would be easy, really, but only if you actually log out and enter your credentials again. The credentials saved in your cookies are crypted and I don't know the key to decrypt them. I understand that you may not be able to read the source code of the script, but it's open source anyway, so everyone can check what it does :)

    Another thing for all the beta testers: I'll release a new version of the script later today.
    It will be version 0.9.2.

    I think I'll schedule the public release for thursday or friday.

    Sorry, but I load images in tabs. Takes forever just navigating around. Yeah, I sometimes get crashes when I get more than two animated threads in the loading of 250 tabs (including the source pages) I'm using AM Browser and Crazy Browser, they recover from crashes okay.

    This is on a 1GBRAM 2.7Ghz HPCompaq running WinXPSP1. Fastest machine I have. All the others are slowpoke netbooks.

    ^ That's, uhm, interesting?

    I didn't know about AM Browser and Crazy Browser, but I'm a little creepied by the fact that they're actually the same damn thing, which means: Internet Explorer wrap ups.

    If you want to use the script you'll have to use something else for now.
