You don't necessarily need to be abnormal to be a "brony"

He could just be a five year old girl. They watch the show and haven't become bronies. Hell, they don't even buy toys! They get their parents to do it all for them. Bloody scumbag five year old girls.

how is brony any different than a fan of the show? I thought it was just a shorter way of saying"fan of my little pony that isn't a little girl"

@851: It did originally mean that but then a bunch of obnoxiou asshole snuck into the fandom and gave the rest of the world a bad impression of us as the "hardcore crazy fans" and so now when people hear the word "brony" they think of them instead of just "fan of my little pony that isn't a little girl".

Of course the sad truth is this happens in pretty much every fandom. Just look at Trekkies.

@094: I think personally it's also a lot to do with inside our own fandom as well. People see all the really creepy folks and refuse to use a title they choose to flash around; choosing instead to use it as an insult.

Personally, I've never had any trouble with it. I call myself a Brony (If asked of course; I don't flaunt it) and I've never had any problems with anyone. I guess it's just where you go.

It could happen.

And then you have the people who ARE fans, but don't call themselves/associate themselves with "bronies". Like me!

I thought Brony meant Adult (male?) Fan of Mlp.

At least that's what Urban Dictionary told me
