FLANK DOES NOT MEAN BUTT.
FLANK MEANS SIDE. Ponies have cutie marks on their general hip area, on a tiny body design that does not easily distinguish the flank, haunch, and buttock, and so the mark could be said to be on any of these. To refer to one butt cheek as a "flank"...fine, close enough. To refer to the entire ass (or "plot" if you must use subculture jargon) as a "flank" is just embarrassingly incorrect. |

I'm partially agreeing with Cerulean. Flank means the side of a horse just in front of the leg. Cutie marks appear more towards the thigh, but if you are using an unusually broad definition of flank then I guess the thigh area could be included. But the flank of the horse definitely does not include the ass. Hmm, it looks like both the rump (Cerulean's suggestion) and croup are the rear of the back/spine, they are above the tail and too high to be the fleshy part of the rear. So the fleshy parts of the ass below the tail would be the buttock or possibly the quarter, and if you don't want to say that you could say "thigh" and be close enough. |
