In truth Buzz Aldrin had to go out and ask Luna to go over to the other side of the moon for her own safety, couldn't let us know she was up there just yet. |

The irony of everyone who said it was a mistake is that either way they are still wrong. If he had intended the quote to work as was believed to have said it at the time, then the first mention of man could be taken as either 'mankind to this point' with the later mention being 'all future generations,' or it could also be interpreted as 'america' being the first 'man' and 'mankind' meaning the rising tide of technology would lift all others. (ie the advancements made from the rush to be the first on the moon would serve poorer countries better as their R&D could not handle such things.) That is, it's a very small step for an American to make as it is the end of a staircase leading to the moon. But all the technological gains that can be cheaply used back on earth are a giant leap for all.
lrn 2 poetics and metaphors, people. (and if he had meant it that way he would have said so right away when he got back) grammar nazis are so lulzy. |

After a thousand years, Luna had time to build an entire civilization using Her Magic. Of course, she used Glass, not only because it's pretty but because it was the most practical and readily available material to use as well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0StZZqrGCg&feature=related

I know the first comment already said it, but still... +1000 for actually getting the quote right (or at least the way Armstrong intended to say it).
"Damn, I really did it. I flubbed the first words on the moon, didn't I?" --Neil Armstrong |

And then an evil queen from the negaverse shattered her crystal palace and used her body as a vessel for a dark goddess. Before realising she had the wrong Moon palace, that is. Oops! |
