I'm more under the impression that she's just not fully matured like Luna and Celestia.
For all we know Celestia and Luna are the only immortal ponies on this. They really haven't given out much information on how much they differ. ( Hell, even the Christmas episode they mentioned that Unicorn controlled both day and night which was each ones specialty ) |

Unicorns used to control the sun and moon before the princesses. Maybe Celestia and Luna were originally mortals who acquired the power when they and maybe along with their 4 other long dead element bearing companions defeated Discord who at one point stole the cosmic magic and assumed absolute control. After they defeated Discord, Celestia and Luna made a difficult decision to assume the power and became immortal since only unicorns are able to use that power. The rest of the group of companions either died of age or ascended to a higher plane a long time ago.

I just read the synopsis on this, and it looks like Cadence is actually Celestia's niece. Not only that, but Cadence has a dark secret that's revealed in the second half. Maybe it's connected to Discord's rumored return. Another theory is she could be the next NightMare Moon. |
