Obviously you've never shot solid objects with a 5.7x28 cartridge. With EA PenetraTors, my Five-Seven can put holes in stuff my 1911 can only dream of punching through. |

Also, if I want to punch through armor AND do damage to a soft target, I'll just run VBR-B .45 rounds in an M1911A1 or something. Small rounds like the 5.7x28mm or even the 5.56x45mm nato rounds do very little damage in jacketed form. You need expanding rounds to do any real damage to soft targets. And expanding rounds are prohibited in military applications, so Spec-ops Gilda here is going to want something with a little more punch. |

badinfluence is right in that PDW rounds have poor terminal ballistics compared to big common pistol rounds like the .45. However, it's a PDW round. It's different from a pistol round. It penetrates. That's the point. |

50 rounds don't mean shit if your target takes 7 of em and still stabs you several times in the chest and neck, or worse shoots you AND your squad mates because he's still able despite the tiny holes in him. I've seen it enough with small caliber weapons on a REAL battlefield to know I want something with A LOT more punch.
The reason I like VBR-B rounds so much is they have a sabot that comes away INSIDE the target, skirting around the ban on expanding ammo but giving you the full punch of larger rounds to unarmored targets, yet still having that tungsten steal penetror for armored targets, who will also feel the hit of that sabot should it be soft body armor. |

^I'd also like to add that shooting MORE bullets to get the same job done is never a good way to go about it, because the more bullets you need the more time it takes, faster rates of fire can only do so much.
If I can gun that bastard down in two rounds from a .45acp weapon, why would I want to shoot MORE then that in a smaller caliber? I mean two shots is much easier to land in succession than 7-8 rounds that might not even stop my target, I've seen insurgents take 6+ rounds of 5.56 and keep going, they'll die later, but I wanted that fucker dead NOW. |

How about this, in the real world, against a REAL army unlike the drugged up hajji fucks we are fighting now. A 5.7 will take an average man out of the fight. And the way I see it I can either carry 150 rds of 5.7 in 3 mags or I can carry 90 rounds or less in a smaller smg in 3 mags. That's potentially 150 men out of the fight (notice I said potentially) vs 90... I'll take the 5.7 thank you. Not to mention short exposed barrel, designed to not catch on anything or get in the way, AND it has a carbine length barrel and penetration capabilities? Yeah, gimme the 5.7.... As for the 9mm and .45.... Better hope your target isint wearing body armor. |
