^^ This. I HATED male "Derpy" voice with a passion since the start, new one is 2.000.000% cooler and doesn't offend vulnerable people too boot. What happened to Love & Tolerance when that explosion of hate from small butthurt minority ensued ruining reputation of all bronies?

Here's how you can not give a fuck about your current situation:
You grab your fuck, kill it with fire, send it to the moon, then blow the moon, and then tell your boss you just forgot to bring it with you to work.

And now, I'm off.

As much as I hated the Derpy change, there are legitimate reasons to be offended by something.

I disagree and even if there were that doesn't mean that people who are offended can decide what's right or wrong for other people. That's like outlawing shellfish because people are allergic.

So virulently racist language, for instance, isn't a reason for a person to be offended?

People don't want freedom of speech to protest against the exploration of man, to protest against excessive brutality or to protest against destruction of the environment.

People want freedom of speech just to be assholes.

It's not about whether or not a person is offended. It's how they deal with it.

If somebody sincerely calls you an asshole, you will be offended. That can't be helped, it's emotions.
You feel what you feel. Emotions can't be prevented, just like sensations. You have no responsibility over how you feel (at the moment).
You _can_ prepare yourself for future occurrences. You can decide how you act on them. And that, is all on you.

OP is right. But he is also Anon, so:

guess what? being an asshole or not depends of a point of view, to some you might be a total jerk, to others you are the greatest man alive.

Points of view, bitch.

Really? I never saw Obama kicking puppies, or Bush throwing paper balls at people. However I am not american, so I am not sure.

@watermelon

Really? What did Lincoln do? Gandhi? Martin Luther King?

Even Justin Bieber? Besides talking his music, I never saw him claiming to be the best thing ever, or insulting people. Please expand.

Regardless of what they say or do, people will hate them.

I can personally recall a moment when every political leader in the past 10 years in America has been called Hitler-esque by one side, and Jesus-like by the other. Regardless of whatever stance any of them is taking. For Obama, this has especially true. You can probably find youtube videos of those.

@465

But there is a difference between being a jerk, or having a different point of view. I can disagree with you being polite... or being rude.

My point stands that being a jerk makes no one like you. In fact even people who agree with your point may wish you were on the other side.

@266(411?, Bucking Anonymity)

I realize you wanted an example of a jerk who is loved by some .
Dick Cheney has supporters still
Rick Santorum is still in the US Republican race despite being a deplorable person
Steve Jobs was personally responsible for many of the draconian practices in Apple
The current Pope, Palpatine... er Benedict, was part of the Hitler youth, and can be quoted to still have Nazi ideals.
Walt Disney was an anti-Semite. But I don't care, I usually love everything his company produces.

This image is not saying you can't be offended. It is impossible to just stop being offended. But announcing it, acting on it, that's when you fail. That is how trolls win, that is how wars start.

If you're gonna rage about Derpy/Derpy's replacement, don't do it because it offended you, do it because it gives a bad message.

And true jerk personalities... umm, Jersey Shore? Reality show people? I don't watch any of them, I do see that plenty of people actually like those kinds of people.

@411 Lincoln suspended Habeas Corpus, Gandhi was antisemitic and spoke in favor of Hitler, MLK committed plagiarism and may have engaged in adultery, John Paul II essentially hastened the spread of AIDS by using his influence to limit the availability of condoms in Catholic African countries, Nelson Mandela engaged in terrorism, Charles De Gaulle was an egomaniac who drove the other WWII allied leaders nuts, and Justin Bieber was included as a joke.

Loved her 'male' voice because it was unique. Don't really care about the issue other than Hasbro shouldn't have buckled to the PR BS.

Political correctness is just wrong as an idea. If people say or do certain things, just let people judge themselves. Don't force people into doing it.

@955: Gandhi was anti-semetic early in his 'career', but he completely owned it in the years before his assassination. By that point he was pretty obsessed with peace for the entire freakin' world (instead of just India). You can argue the wisdom of passive aggression, but few of his critics argue that he was a paragon of humanity.

Compromising the original artistic vision because of fear of offending the few. It should be opinionated upon after being made. But the way some people want to recreate the canon is just beyond the line.
