Sometimes I think people make everyone different to try to force diversity. I've always seen Twilight as Asian, Rainbow Dash as Latin and the rest white because it makes much more sense than a group of 6 people of completely different races and religions hanging out.

I feel the same way, but only for R34. My preference in porn is just towards lighter skin. I just hate that SOMEONE out there would call me racist for that. @_@

I don't think preferring the look of white skin is racist.
You can't really control what you're attracted to, whereas racism is usually based on ignorance.

I think it makes sense, especially considering that all their voice actors are white. Personally, fandom representation has led me to see Twilight as some sort of Asian though. Rainbow Dash I see as either Latino or tanned Caucasian. Classic stereotypes would put Applejack as a white southern girl. Rarity I tend to view as white due to her coat and fact that her voice and mannerisms seem to place her as some sort of European, at least in my view. Pinkie I see as Latino or Caucasian as well, though the only justification I have for her being a Latino is that she seems to share the same bouncy, partygoing, carefree attitude that many of my Latino relatives and friends exhibit. Fluttershy I can't help but see as white, again due to her coat color. I honestly don't see why some artists seem to feel the need to pick a token black character in their humanizations. It just feels kind of awkward and unfitting to me, and especially when it's practically canon that zebras are meant to be representative of African immigrants.

Honestly, I've always conceptualized them as fair skinned humans, but if you don't that's cool too.

It does annoy me however that most people make the cast different races not because they actual think they're different races but because they feel some sort of PC guilt if they don't.

God, this show was created by white folk for a predominantly white audience, without all the bullshit PC crap and cultures of other races. If they happen to like it, good on them, there is one small thing we share. But not much else. Pony culture is classic, old-fashioned-right-wing, civilized white-Euro-culture. Something that suits the audience that admire it.

First, the thing about the actual race of a voice actor is a BS reason. I don't think I should have to explain why.

Coat color is also a terrible, terrible reason to determine a human equivalent to ethnicity. (Sapphire Shores anyone?)

Third, the reason people draw some of them as mocha colored is definitely not "because they feel some sort of PC guilt if they don't".

When people draw the outline of characters, sometimes they play with the colors to see what sticks. Shirt colors, hair colors, and skin tones. The fact of the matter is (For the most part) that people draw Twilight with a darker skin tone, not because they want to be PC, but because they think it looks cool. (And I happen to agree)

For all intents and purposes, Twilight is still as white as Tara's performance would suggest, (sound of her voice, facial bone structure, etc) but all that has changed is literally the color of her skin.

Then why not just say it 'looks cool' as a reason? Instead they flip out at the racist anon and stir up massive storms of stupid crap every few months it seems.

I hate it when someone starts out with "I'm not a racist". We're all a little bit racist, no exceptions. A lot of it is subconscious, but it's there and it's unavoidable.
