Stop trying to instigate another argument. We got enough. |

Was this confession banned from Ponyconfessions? I heard of it, or one like it, but couldn't find it. |

I don't understand the reasoning behind making her dark skinned.
Her voice is of a white person so the voice does not match that look. |

Perhaps if she was drawn with less of a dark skin colour and more of a tanned one, we wouldn't keep getting complaints. |

Niggertron's explanation. /endthread |

Tastes vary. I like her tanned |
| Zincy #1169579 3 months ago |
I don't like humanizing them period. They don't have equivalent human features. They aren't white, or black, they are like purple and blue and shit. Pony or Anthro, no humans. |
| WatermelonRat #1169583 3 months ago |
Everyone has a certain way they envision characters. I imagine Fluttershy as tall and gangly, Luna as incredibly pale, and Rainbow Dash as a bit shorter and younger than the rest. I'm not going to hate it if they don't match up to that, though. It's the quality of the art that matters. It's fine to prefer art depicting her as you imagine, but if seeing Twilight dark skinned is so upsetting that you'll hate a well-done piece of art because of it, then I think you do have a racial issue. |

Also, I once checked out of curiosity and less than half of all Twilight humanizations are actually dark skinned, so "Why is she ALWAYS black?" really grates on my nerves. |
| Anonymous #1169600 3 months ago |
@562
White people have voiced black characters and vice versa. To me Twilight being dark skinned is more of a stylistic color choice than anything. |
| Anonymous #1169615 3 months ago |
To be honest I'm more concerned about proper color contrast then race. Making Twilight too dark or pale messes that up.
Sometimes they even make her skin darker then her mane and honestly that just makes it look wrong. |

>straight hair >studies all the time black people can straighten their hair and be bookworms wtfareyoudoingnigger |

>straight hair
She's a pony.. Pretty much every character in the series has straight hair - even Zecora. |
| Anonymous #1169650 3 months ago |
What bothers me more is the reasoning behind it
"Her coat is a dark color, therefore is black" Oh yeah that's a real deep shade of LIGHT purple |
| Posey #1169655 3 months ago |
>implying dark skin equals being of African-descent. |
| StarrySkies #1169662 3 months ago |
I see Twilight more Asian than Black.
I can see Pinkie as black. She can get an Aunt Jemima thing going on. |
| JasonTheHuman #1169671 3 months ago |
Niggertron has spoken... Quite well, in fact. Couldn't have said it better myself.
All of the Mane Six have white voices. They're diverse, it's just personality-wise instead of racial. |
| Saint_Braeburn #1169702 3 months ago |
^ Actually Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy's VA is Chinese. |
| Saint_Braeburn #1169705 3 months ago |
^^ Also where would Albino's fit into that. |
| Kanashi1kage #1169719 3 months ago |
Samurai Jack is voiced by a black man. The "her actress is white" argument blows.
I say this as someone who doesn't understand why Twilight in particular ends up being black more than the other 5. And people complaining about "Twilight always being black" are dumb. Majority of Twilight artwork has her not black. You guys just don't want black Twilight to EXIST. |
| MaroonBunyip #1169721 3 months ago |
are you lot fucking kidding me?
really? its like you have never even spoken to people with skin colour beyond white or non-european descent. That niggertron comic just scratches what it all is. It puts way too much assumption that the artist is a white kid in america. And that black skin means african to american descent. The facial features and hair type don't mean shit with other dark skined populations (eg. indian). What im trying to say is, actually know your shit when it comes to talking about skin colour and heritage. If you don't, just sit down. |
| Dentist73548 #1169722 3 months ago |
Twilight is not black, she's a purple pony. |
| Dragoon #1169741 3 months ago |
Why should we care if Twilight has a specific skin color. Just like the the art and move on |
| Posey #1169751 3 months ago |
Indians are Asian..
Just sayin'. |

Did a test and looked for what Light level her fur had, and well...
For proper lightness contrast you're better off going olive toned. |

http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/AmbiguouslyBrown
Here is an article on this very subject. It's about how characters who are, for no apparent reason, have a brown skin tone. Among the reasons this is done, yes, an attempt to arbitrarily add "racial diversity" is one of them. However, some artists just like the design. Niggertron, I feel you have missed the mark entirely. I agree with people who think that all of Twilight's features (voice, hair) don't fit on a black person, and the reason is, quite frankly, she isn't black at all. Except for the color of her skin alone, she is as white as her voice acting would suggest. That TVtropes page has a lot of examples of characters in animation who seem to be arbitrarily brown colored when they look like they were originally supposed to be lighter colored, but I, again, seriously doubt that all of these instances were racially driven, Niggertron. Sometimes when coloring characters, people try a new skin tone because they think it looks cool. And in my opinion, for Twilight Sparkle, it does. |
| Leidenpierce #1169876 3 months ago |
Also, I do mean the voice actING, and not the voice actOR. The performance Tara Strong is delivering is that of a pale skinned bookworm shut-in, where Phil LaMarr is delivering the performance of a badass samurai, but neither of these voice actor's IRL skin color has to do with what roles they portray. We coo'? |
| Saint_Braeburn #1169945 3 months ago |
Dear god Ladenpiece that is a lot of text. Also Purple Hair doesn't fit on anybody because it's not a natural hair color. Also did you notice that there were Real Life examples on that page?
But here is the truth Twilight isn't Black, White, Brown, or Yellow. SHE IS A FREAKING PURPLE PONY FROM EQUESTRIA. And arguing whose Fanon is more factual is A good sign of Butthurt Stupidity. Btw no ever attempted to answer my question on how you could tell if a Pony is Albino or not. |

@Saint_Braeburn
The hair part was on the straightness. I don't know, people often bring up how the style of her hair falls more in line with a white person, so I thought I'd mention it there. Basically, what my point boils down to is that, (in most fan interpretations) Twilight is still as white as Tara Strong's performance would suggest, but some people draw her with a dark skin tone because they think it looks cool; nothing more. I hate it when people suggest that people draw Twilight as black because her coat in the show is a darker color than the rest, especially when they say this is because of racism. By that logic, these same people would be drawing Fluttershy as Chinese, and Rarity as being albino. |
| Saint_Braeburn #1170251 3 months ago |
^
I doubt Tara had a race in mind when she voiced Twilight. Probably because, as I've earlier said, Twilight is a Purple Pony. Most people draw Twilight as White because they attribute her personality to that skin color and because most of the artists are White themselves. When people visualize the humanized Mane Six they will likely see them in whatever skin color they have, because subconsciously it allows makes us them more relatable to us. Remember Race is a social concept. It's someones culture, up bringing, and personal experiences that define them, not there skin color. Also, I got more of an Asian vibe from Twilight's hair. |

Niggerlight. That's all i'm gonna say |
| Leidenpierce #1170530 3 months ago |
@Saint_Braeburn
Well, no, I don't think they had a checklist of race for each character, but you can tell by the way the lines are delivered what type of character or pony equivalent to human ethnicity they were going for. Applejack and Sapphire Shores come to mind. |

Who the hell cares |
| Leidenpierce #1172166 3 months ago |
^That's the thing: I wish people didn't care. I wish I didn't see "Oh my god why is she a nigger?" on every picture where someone isn't white.
Conversely, I also hate it when people say "Someone has a darker skin tone than the rest? It must be because they feel guilt and want a token black character!", because it's frankly inaccurate and insulting. Especially when they cite Twilight's purple coat as the reason. I mean, what? I want a list of people who have said "I drew Twilight with dark skin in this picture because everyone else is white/her coat is purple." |
