HOW TO DON'T GIVE A SHIT
STEP 1 Use filters DONE HOW TO BE TROLLED AND USELESS TO THIS COMUNITY: STEP 1 post this shit |
| Anonymous #1167960 3 months ago |
Step 1: Take Image
Step 2: Go to 4chan's /b/ Step 3: Post image on /b/ Step 4: Sit back and watch the fun, or Step 5: Sit back and realize /b/ doesn't give a shit |
| Yorec #1167963 3 months ago |
we do need more moderators though. |
| I_Like_Your_Mane #1167964 3 months ago |
I only get truly off color if we veer way too far from pony material or real life violence or silly amounts of gore or stuff like that.
While I agree more mods may be needed, I think we largely police eachother just fine.... well, usually. |

@Pony_tail
Trolls don't add tags. Unless you filter "tagme". |
| Pony_tail #1167969 3 months ago |
thanks to the tagging sistem, everytime someone upload something not pony realted it get tagged "not_pony"
Add this tag to your filter IS NOT THAT HARD |
| Pony_tail #1167971 3 months ago |
@965
that's true, but thanks to the huge ammount of usefull users on this site, the image will be tagged properly in less than 10 minutes... blacklist "tagme" and "not_pony_related" and you are done! |

@Pony_tail
The reason they are tagged "not_pony" is because someone saw and tagged it. Even it the system, you may see it if you are unfortunate enough. Also sometimes trolls delete tags. Then the picture comes back again. |
| Anonymous #1167977 3 months ago |
Or upload some horse porn. people who come here for cartoon horse vaginas get their jimmies quite rustled by real ones |
| Pony_tail #1167979 3 months ago |
then blacklist the "unrated" images (or spoiler them) so you won't get hurt by the bad bad trollers who don't tag properly their pictures. |
| Yorec #1167980 3 months ago |
Yes it is easy to just filter everything that offends you but there should at least be some form of quality control on this site besides that. |
| I_Like_Your_Mane #1167983 3 months ago |
Meta is already pushing it, but I'm okay with it as long as it's properly tagged and it isn't a HUGE flood of it.
But genitalia or totally unrelated stuff... well that kind of don't belong on a fundamental scale. |
| Pony_tail #1167984 3 months ago |
Yeah, but you cant ask for an immediate cleaning system.
If you see a picture that offend you report it and wait Don't rush and take it easy Don't get mad if it takes even half day to get deleted, moderators have also a social life |
| DeeperMadness #1167985 3 months ago |
There's a small issue with filtering stuff. Because the site is held together with user-based reporting measures, it means that if anyone misses something the image will stay uploaded. If we all filtered things we didn't like, some images might not get reported and therefore Eco would be hosting something that could be illegal where he lives.
He'd then get arrested and there'd be no more Ponibooru. =/ |
| Pony_tail #1167993 3 months ago |
@DeeperMadness
check the images... that a moderators job He have moderators for that. And 'cmon, it's not that we all have filters on. |
| Yorec #1168003 3 months ago |
@Pony_tail
Yeah we have mods, but we don't have enough of them. From what I've heard there are only like 2 mods for this whole site. There is no was they can keep track of every image that gets posted, especially if it gets posted when they're not online and it gets lost behind 20+ pages of other pics by the time they get back on. |
| DeeperMadness #1168009 3 months ago |
@Pony_tail:
I can't deny that there needs to be someone who's awake during these odd hours and who's also prepared to spend their time here deleting posts. But that's down to Eco. |
| Pony_tail #1168021 3 months ago |
Mods don't have to check every single images of this site. They just check the reported image.
So, returning to my previous point, if you see something that offend you, report it and blacklist it. Easy as pie |
| Vree #1168077 3 months ago |
HAHAHAHAHA
NO. LOL NO. Ponibooru mods NEVER delete pictures. MAYBE they do delete some TRULY explicit nonpony stuff, but other than it's a free for all. Most of us know how to A, filter, or B, sunconsciously filter. Many of my Ponibooruian friends are also great at leaving small hints that something is not worth your time (I'm not a fool enough to name them for you trolls, but anyone with two brain cells to strike together will realize them). If you're the kind of idiot who thinks spamming is some sort of victory, have fun, your loss of a real life, not ours. I do agree that this site would greatly benefit from more responsible moderation though. I can't see it happening in the close future because the site owners don't seem particularly interested in it, but if any of you guys can convinc them otherwise, please do. It's not that that two seconds to register and ignore a stupid post is that bad, but I'd love to spare our visitors even that effort, and make this a nicer site to new comers and innocents that a brony can be proud of. Don't say that I don't understand teens, I absolutely understand how tasteless porn and innovative meta can be cheecky and rebellous and cool. But the 14-year-old fat kids who think it's funny to spam hate comments, I want them off this site. |

Teenagers! |
| Anonymous #1168134 3 months ago |
Lol this thread makes me moist since i am the uploader of a few good non_related pony images that were never deleted |
| Vree #1168173 3 months ago |
^most don't. That's my point. It's hardly an achievement. (Which is why the OP to post this is a 'tard. I could post sh*t that'd stay here forever, click-click.)
But, sorry, are the mods actually thinking that this ssystem is working, or do they just not care like I originally assumed? |
| Verbose #1168364 3 months ago |
@Vree
I think the mods are few in number. I've only seen a mod post once or twice (same user, but I forget the name), and I've been on here since July. And I'm going with that I_Like_Your_Mane said: There are regular users who go and tag after troll uploads very quickly, and there are a ton of other less frequent users who tag here and there. We generally moderate ourselves. |
| D_Pony #1168480 3 months ago |
even then it's not guarantee, for example i have filtered various forms of pony confessions and fluffy pony abuse, and yet they still poping up on my views here and there, not(only) because people don't tag them, but also because people change the writting of the tags(e.g: ponyconfessions to pony_confessions to other forms) or worse, trolls just remove the tags completely(eg: "ponyconfessions pony_confessions dirty_pony_confessions brony_confessions" etc to simply "aa") so even if we try to simply filter it out some nasty things still appearing from time to time |
| SpecialAnon #1168841 3 months ago |
We could benefit from duplicates and other things being removed. It could possibly reduce the stress the imageboard takes on a daily basis and potentially make the site run smoother. Sadly, that can be perceived as not going far enough to some. Another option would be to change the comment system all together to prevent anon spam. More moderators sounds like a good thing, but whether it can do the imageboard justice by cracking down on trolling and cleaning up unwanted/duplicate/non-mlp related content is only speculatory right now. |
| picard #1168859 3 months ago |
The success of a troll doesn't depend on whether or not his uploads are deleted, it's measured by the amount of attention he is able to attain. |
| Vree #1169168 3 months ago |
^picard, you're playing the game wrong. I don't care about a troll's feelings. (Heck trolls are so thick they may be getting f-ed in the ass and think they're being rewarded.) This is not some dumb game to prevent them from "winning". I don't play that. |
| Vree #1170209 3 months ago |
@Verbose and D_Pony, I agree with you. However, a mod can take actions in ways that we can not. Self moderation on this site was born out of neccessity, but there are problems that it can not fix. Getting rid of spam meta, banning obvious trolls, looking up logs for pics lost to tag change. Ideally it can stop problems at their root, saving a lot of work for users.
Ideally user self moderation (reporting, tagging, voting, spam marking etc.) and site moderation should make up a system that gets the best results with the least effort from everyone. (Because we come here for the ponies, this is just a side task.) It's not a question of how many mods are there (they don't seem horribly overworked anyway) but whether the site owner cares to put some effort into creating a working system. If he doesn't like central moderation, fine! Then empower the users with more options to be able to address issues themselves. But there is little doubt I think that the current method is inadequate. |
| Anonymous #1170312 3 months ago |
Does the site even have any staff besides Eco? |
| D_Pony #1176122 3 months ago |
@vree while giving the users the power to delete post may see as a good solution at first, it is also a double edge sword, it would also allow trolls to delete any good pictures, or worse, allow regular users delete things simply because they don't like them, while obviously any corrupt mod could do the same, that would only mean a person to worry about, while in a "Everyone can delete anything" enviorenmt, we could easily find ourselves on a sudden nuke war with pictures being deleted left and right, just to give an example, Anthro pics, some people like them, some people don't (i personally pic them on a case-per-case scenario, but i'm ok with most of them), if we allowed everyone to delete pics, i can easily see furry-haters nuking them instantly.
i agree the rest of your post, and i really like to see more moderators,or at least a small clean up crew |
