I think that the scientific advancement in the pony universe is 2 -10 times as slow as ours, as they have magic and don't need to rely too much on technology.
We had the medieval times around 1500 - 600 years ago, while in the ponyverse it was more than 1000 years + Discords era + The princesses reign before Discord, ago. |

In addition to my normal rant about this chart, which has been taken care of for me by @291 and @338, may I add that the reintroduction of Christianity (as opposed to cultistic middle-ages Catholicism) helped spur the uptick. |
